Maybe the Giants could offer Alderson or Bumgarner? Alderson may be doable straight up, but I'm not very familiar with relative values. I would think a top OF prospect would be more desirable for SF than another SP.
Then we could put together a trade centered around Happ and Alderson, allowing us to keep Brown and Drabek, and still give up 2 quality pitchers that Toronto desires.
Floppy, what do the OF and SP prospects look like in the SD, DET, OAK, or KC systems? They could be a fit, based on their MLB rosters at least, and we don't compete directly with these teams.

To be fair, I think most of the Raul criticism revolved around the years of the deal (combined with his age) and the loss of a draft pick than a general knocking of his abilities.
To be really fair there was a tremendous amount of complaining that he was in decline, couldn't hit lefties and was an horrific fielder.
To be really really fair, I don't think anyone can honestly say they expected him to be anything close to what he's been so far. It's completely off the charts.
Grote did. But he feels that way about guys like Bruntlett too, so take it with a grain of salt

Prospect for prospect deals are so very rare that even Mayberry for Golson was big news for that. I'm not sure any of those GMs are going to do a prospect for prospect deal.

1.) Interesting but not surprising that JP did not make the trip to Seattle
2.) If Boston decides to offer Bucholtz, just forget it and move on.

I'm sure they've offered Buchholz already. They're just balking at including Bard, who tore through the minors in much of the same way Buchholz did.
It would be much more advantageous for them to seek Cliff Lee who probably wouldn't cost quite as much and would be almost as outstanding.
