The Phillies and Jays appear to be at an impasse in talks regarding Roy Halladay at the moment. Executives with both teams have told other baseball officials they are disinclined from changing their current offers at present -- though with four days to go before Friday's trade deadline, there is still plenty of time for minds to change.

One high-ranking official with one of those clubs put the chances for a deal now at "five percent.''

The Jays requested a three-prospect package of pitchers Kyle Drabek and J.A. Happ and outfielder Dominic Brown, while the Phillies reportedly countered with a package of Happ, pitching prospect Carlos Carrasco, outfielder Michael Taylor and shortstop Jason Donald. Carrasco was ranked as the Phillies' top pitching prospect only last year, but Drabek has surpassed him.

Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi was quoted telling FoxSports.com that the chances for a deal now are "very slim.''

One baseball official wondered whether the Phillies aren't moving because they've heard word that Halladay, who has veto power over trades, has told the Jays he wants to go to Philly. Word is getting out that the Phillies are at or near the top of Halladay's list -- though there's no real indication they are the only team on his list.

There's no evidence of real progress between the Jays and any of the other Halladay suitors. The Angels, Rangers and Dodgers are all believed to have exchanged proposals with the Jays, while Toronto has named its asking price with the Yankees and Red Sox. Ricciardi has made clear the price will be high for their AL East rivals, so it's no surprise he requested both Joba Chamberlain and Phil Hughes in a four-player package from the Yankees. The Yankees would not consider trading both of those young pitchers.

Officials believe Ricciardi requested top pitching prospect Clay Buchholz and others from Boston, which doesn't want to trade Buchholz.

The Angels, Rangers and Dodgers appear at this point to perhaps have even bigger gaps in their trade proposals with the Jays than do the Phillies.

I've tried to keep a pretty even keel throughout this whole thing, but if our big trade involves Jarrod Washburn and not Roy Halladay, I'll probably throw up in my mouth. Yes, I said it.

Unless we get Washburn for someone like Brunt straight up, what does he even bring to this team? He's not as good as Happ. OK, he's doing ok this season, he's been just shy of mediocre the last few seasons before this one pitching in a gigantic park where it's practically impossible to hit homeruns.

this one?

“Heyman just wrote on SI.com that he thinks word leaked to the Phillies that Roy Halladay has informed the Jays he wants to go to Philly. It’s also possible it’s the only place he’d waive it for…”

Probably a dumb question, but if the Phillies know he wants to come here, why are they stalling?

Brunt for Halladay straight up! And the Jays take on the remainder of Eaton's contract.

Check what I posted above. Misinformation from the Heyman article. Not what he said

If Halladay will only come to Philly then they can offer less since no one else can get him

Hmmm.

But here's the thing. If his list is limited to teams that have ST in Florida, then his list is essentially the Phillies and Red Sox.
