Halladay IV: A New Hope

Postby milton bernard thompson » Fri Jul 24, 2009 11:14:18

He hasn’t given us a list of teams.

Ricciardi also indicated to reporters that Halladay, who has a no-trade clause, provided a list of teams to the Blue Jays.

i know it's all posturing and nonsense and whatnot at this point, but seriously this guy could not sound like more of an incompetent moron over the past few weeks.

He has contradicted his previous day's statements everyday for almost a week now
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

Now all we need is a Dallas Green type in the Blue Jay organization to come out and say that Halladay needs to man-up

It appears that J.P went to the Ed Wade school of G.M-ing.

Statements by Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi yesterday that Roy Halladay would test the free-agent market in 2010 threatened to cause a rift with the Blue Jays’ star right-hander.

After learning that Halladay had been irked by his revelation, Ricciardi moved last night to dispel any notion of a split.

“Roy Halladay has not demanded a trade,” Ricciardi said. “We know what he wants and he knows what he wants. He hasn’t given us a list of teams. We’ve run teams by him to see if he has any interest in going there – yes or no. There is no secret, hidden agenda. We’re not playing divide and conquer … and, again, my gut tells me that I just don’t see anything happening.”

Speaking to reporters yesterday afternoon as he was getting on an elevator at the Rogers Centre, Ricciardi said: “I think I made this clear really early that Doc wanted to test the free-agent market. That’s the reason we’re going down this whole avenue.”

Ricciardi also indicated to reporters that Halladay, who has a no-trade clause, provided a list of teams to the Blue Jays.

Halladay appeared testy after yesterday’s 5-4 loss to the Cleveland Indians when reporters approached him for comment on the impromptu interview with Ricciardi.

“I don’t want to address it,” Halladay said. “I don’t even know what he [Ricciardi] said. I’ll do it after I pitch.”

According to Rogers Sportsnet, Halladay’s initial reaction when approached by one of their reporters was: “This is not good.”

JP Riccardi's failure is now complete.

Halladay and Scudaro for Bruntlett, Mayberry, Bako, and Lopez.

If we could get Scutaro in the deal, it would be that much better. Scutaro instead of Bruntlett as our utility guy is a big upgrade.

Scutaro actually would be the best leadoff man on our team

Scutaro has played nearly 100 games at 3rd. His OBP is over 40 points higher than Feliz's, OPS over 60 points higher. I'd start the guy at 3rd base and have Feliz as the right-handed bat off the bench. Sorry all of you Feliz supporters

I'll take Pete Happy's defense, thanks.
This is a simple game. You throw the ball, you hit the ball, you catch the ball.

You might do that and it may make sense but do you REALLY believe Cholly will bench Feliz in favor of a Scutaro type acquisition? Me neither.

Marco Scuadro as super-sub for the rest of this season, starting 3Bman next year...? I like this idea I just made up.

Riccardi isnt going to give him away for free just because your getting Halladay and he's not worth what it cost to get him. Pass.
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

Ive completely come to grips with the fact that we're not getting Halladay. If we do now, then great, but I really dont feel like its going to happen

Yeah, I was just going with the flow. Halladay is the goal. If Scutaro can be had cheaply in addition for some reason, do that too, but it ha st obe cheaply. Under no circumstances would I give up any more than Drabek/Taylor/Carrasco/D'Arnaud fo Halladay I think; if throwing Jason Donald in too gets us Scutaro, I say do it, but i'm sure it wouldn't.

Isn't this post like three days old (i.e., didn't you post the exact same sentiment three days ago)? I think the Roy Halladay-o-meter is at like 98% right now.
