Isn't this post like three days old (i.e., didn't you post the exact same sentiment three days ago)? I think the Roy Halladay-o-meter is at like 98% right now.

was it 3 days ago?

but i really am fine with it now. i underestimated ricciardi's douchiness.

Ed Price of AOL FanHouse says Cincinnati has interest in Halladay.

I really don't mind not getting him so long as the Dodgers or another NL team do not get him either.

Perhaps floppy's getting the same gut feeling I've had... Ricciardi's just being a fucking tease that will only be enticed to deal Halladay if it's a deal of butt raping proportions that he can brag about later.

Lou (NJ)

What is the latest on Halladay to the Phillies? Is it going to happen? If not, will we get someone like Cliff Lee instead?
Jayson Stark (1:11 PM)

Maybe JP Ricciardi's gut is telling him Halladay won't get traded. But my gut tells me he's going to wind up in Philadelphia. I think both sides are too motivated to make this happen for it to fall apart. But as I wrote yesterday in Rumblings and Grumblings, the Phillies are trying to make this deal without including either J.A. Happ or Kyle Drabek. And I think that's impossible.

BUT I THOUGHT THEY HAVEN'T DISCUSSED ANY PLAYER NAMES YET!!!???

(Which begs the question, how the hell do you negotiate a trade without talking about specific names?)

i cannot fathom why the fuck they'd keep JA Happ instead of trading him for Halladay

Rob (LA)

Wouldn't it be smart for Philly to trade Happ? He never projected to be an outstanding starter and his market value is probably as high now as it ever will be.
Jayson Stark (1:16 PM)

Boy, I totally disagree. I quoted a scout in Rumblings and Grumblings who said he used to think Happ could be a poor man's Andy Pettitte - and "now he IS Andy Pettitte, except he's pitching better than the one in New York." If I'm running a team trying to win, I would never, ever trade away a key part of my big-league group. I know Drabek has more upside, but I'd rather trade the guy who has never done it than the guy who's 7-0 in the big leagues. And the truth is, I know scouts who don't think Drabek's ceiling is much higher than Happ;s.

The deification of JA Happ has been nothing short of breathtaking. I hope he wins rookie of the year and then we trade him for David Wright

Not surprising that someone on the cack board wouldn't "get" why people don't want to trade an undefeated pitcher

what stark doesnt factor in is, if happ stays, who comes out of the rotation? moyer has compromising photos of amaro, so he stays in, and blanton has been awesome, so he stays in. pedro was just signed, hes staying in when he enters. theres no room for happ.

The PRESS may not know, but I can't imagine the PHILLIES don't know who was on that list. You don't think Pat Gillick has a source for that kind of stuff?
