Probably would have to dump Segura and slot kingery or another cheap option at 2nd.

There are guys on the roster who can hold down CF and DH on a rotating basis. The rest of the cash can go to RPs. $16M can cover that.

This is where I am completely. Gregorious at 18.9 is better than spending 18.9 and getting worse production out of it. Find a CF out of Haseley, Quinn, Moniak, Herrera. Jay Bruce will probably come back on the cheap (nobody is offering him huge money this offseason).

If you have Kingery at 2B, Rhys at 1B, and Bohm at 3B, that's 3/4 of your infield each making less than $1 million. If you still can't put a contender on the field, and still stay under the luxury tax, with those pieces in place, I don't know what to tell you.

You don't have to have an all-star at each position. But there IS room to play with here.
(Brandy) only hinted at Halladay's personal issues during her Hall of Fame speech last July, when she said, "Roy would want everyone to know that people are not perfect. We're all imperfect and flawed in one way or another. We all struggle."

Keith Law says he's heard Bobby Heck (special assistant to the GM in Tampa) connected to the Phillies opening.

Right that’s why I said dump Segura, but keep in mind Kingery counts as $4 million for tax purposes and Hoskins is eligible for arbitration. Also remember Odubel is still on the books.

You should be able to fill in some of the cracks with cheap labor, but then again Klentak got fired in large part because he was really bad at doing that and I don’t know how much the new guy will be able to turn that around in one offseason.

Are we sure we want Bruce back? He has an 86 OPS+ overall as a Phillies and gets hurt all the time, and Cutch is barely a full time outfielder at this point.

Also are we really comfortable with just Nola/Wheeler/Eflin then Howard and I have no idea?

I’m concerned this would just be leading them down the same road Klentak went of getting good players at the top and then yadda yaddaing the back part of the roster and it blowing up in his face when there’s an inevitable injury or someone underperforms.

Bobby Heck was one of the names in Salisbury's piece from over the weekend:
Bobby Heck
The Tampa Bay Rays do a lot of things right, especially when it comes to unearthing and unlocking talent, and Heck is a highly regarded special assistant with them. He was also responsible for some good drafts in Houston.

Keith Law also said that if he's Theo Epstein, he's "looking at the spot in Philadelphia" while also mentioning some other possibilities for Epstein.
