Jackson was not a good baseball PBP guy. Could never calm himself from the hockey attitude in my opinion. But he was a fine pre/post guy and it sucks he is losing his job because of Covid.

Going to be a tough calculus for a lot of fans. They wanted a big balls owner and that will come at the expense of the organization's culture.

JJ is a superb hockey broadcaster. He is a terrible baseball announcer. He had a good run I guess.

in his defense did you ever listen to the calls he had to take in these? they made regular wip callers seem like geniuses.

yes, he always had that hockey cadence that does not work well with baseball. it's a shame, because he understands and has a real feel for the game, unlike our TV pbp guy.

I mean him dropping in for 25 minutes was the choppy part. Give me Scott and LA all day baby.

i think that's a unique hallmark of phillies broadcasts. Remember HK used to do the 4th and 5th on radio.

His statement about Montgomery and the lack of mention of Middleton is strong. So too is his statement about Franzke and the lack of mention of McCarthy. Sure, Jackson only worked on the radio side but isn't McCarthy the head of the broadcasting team overall? Not sure Jackson's statement means much to any decision maker who matters, but it's (almost refreshingly) mixing a thankful goodbye with not-so-subtle statements about how things are going internally.

he is good at football. Probably because its a national game not local and he is built to be like that.

That's basically where I'm at, but while I could see where people would be annoyed by his PBP, generally his enthusiasm won me over. We could do better, but I also know we could do far worse. And I always liked his post-game show.

I thought he was fine no complaints.

Feel like him and Murph will at least get offers to come back once there are fans again.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

He was always incredibly prepared, and that comes across when he's on the air. I actually attended a sports broadcasting camp way back in the day when I thought that's a field I wanted to go into. He was one of the counselors because that's the summer NHL was on strike so he really had nothing better to do. He's a very generous guy and very friendly.
