Blows my mind there wasn't a concerted effort to park one of him or Horford in the corner, trigger finger primed, at all times.

I think Brett felt the weight of the situation and probably coached his worst 4 games of his entire tenure. Nothing really made a whole lot of sense, he's fortunate that the team didn't just outright quit because otherwise you easily could have had a few more games that resembled game 2.

He even seemed to acknowledge that yesterday. Was tough to watch/hear.

it's been 24 hours.... i think it would be disrespectful to fire him immediately, even if it's 99.9%. he has earned a chance to defend himself and MAYBE see if there's another position within the sixers that may be amenable to both. kind of a toothless front office position might be something they are thinking about.

this organization let the nba fire their gm so not sure they have any grip on how to do anything right.

You guys are getting soft. Put him in a pillory outside the WIP studios and supply the rotting produce.

Moreover, the front office should at the very least have some questions to answer and reassurances to give before having the authority to fire Brown imo

True - so I guess I'll add effectiveness to assertiveness, since outside of Game 4 he was absolutely dreadful.

I like Tobias as a guy, a locker room presence, and a regular season player, but he's been a massive disappointment when it's mattered and that is not acceptable for a 5/$180 guy.

I wouldn't be surprised if they want to keep him on as part of the front office or something.

I think they're really just firing Brett and blaming everything on him based on what's happened thus far. Elton will stay, the behind the scenes FO guys that make up the collaborative will do their best to remain behind the scenes. Harris will have 4 Old Fashioned's and whatever his benzo cocktail of the day is and try to take some bullets whenever he holds a presser and that will be that. And they'll try to sell the shit out of the new coach.
Continued success, thanks for comin' on the show!

Have to think part of the "delay" is meeting with Brett in person before announcing anything. He deserves that much. That means the team has to get back to Philly, Harris has to chopper in, maybe there's a quarantine situation necessary for teams leaving the Orlando bubble, etc.

I know it's the internet age, but not everything happens immediately.

Yeah Harris is a dipshit but it seems like they should at least get the day, and obviously people are going to speculate on replacements in the meantime.

Jon Rothstein @JonRothstein

Michigan's Juwan Howard has released a statement that he will not be a candidate for any current NBA head coaching jobs, per his Twitter page.

At least there probably aren't any kids' soccer or baseball games happening that he can ruin when he lands.

Zach Lowe and Yaron Weitzman (author of "Tanking to the Top") chop up what happened to us around the 39-minute mark of today's Lowe Post pod

Good stuff

Looming Changes as well.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/297 ... -7-seasons

The franchise's plan is that Brand will continue to oversee basketball operations, sources tell ESPN.

The Sixers plan for a head coach will focus on LA Clippers assistant Ty Lue, sources said. Lue won a championship in 2016 as the Cleveland Cavaliers' head coach, and his ability to challenge and command the respect of high-level players makes him attractive to the Sixers -- and others -- in this job market.

Another possible candidate the Sixers are expected to gauge interest in, sources said: Villanova's two-time national championship coach, Jay Wright.

The search is expected to expand beyond those two candidates, but Lue fits the profile of an extremely limited pool of candidates with championship, playoff and high-profile star coaching experience.

Who knows what all that front office stuff means...

As mcare pointed out on Twitter, Lue is obviously tight with Lebron and therefore Klutch and therefore Simmons.

I like Lue and Wright.

I bet another college coach that has his name pop up is Bill Self.
