Maybe we can all set up a Zoom call to console one another.

Dee Gordon has added his mother’s name, who was killed when he was six. He’s going by Dee Strange-Gordon now.

The 8 AL playoff teams are basically locked in already. Rays, As, Indians, White Sox, Twins, Astros, Yankees are all at 98.9+% to make the playoffs per ESPNs odds, then the Jays are at 89%. Tigers are at 10% and everyone else is below 2%.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

I think Nate Silver would call this an overconfident model

Wonder what the sum total of 'not' one of those 8 is.

538's sports stuff is pretty quick and dirty but they have similar projections. Numbers aside doesn't really seem like anyone else in the AL is really trying to win anyway.

It's so great the Yanks are slipping in the standings. When we saw them earlier in the year, their announcers were smug as hell. They were acting like running away with the east was a certainty and the rest of baseball would be looking up at them.

If they miss the playoffs, it will be hilarious. Go Orioles and Blue Jays!

Anyone else a little surprised that there is no team that sort of came from nowhere in this shortened season to be really in the hunt? 60 games is like nothing in baseball... remember the 1995 Phillies? The same Phillies who intentionally permitted Paul Quantrill, Tyler Green, Mike Mimbs, Sid Fernandez, Jeff Juden, and Mike Williams - yes, that Mike Williams - to start 102 of the team's 144 games in baseball's last shortened season?

They were 38-22 after 60 games, 24-13 after 37, where the Phillies are today.
