@ToddZolecki: #Phillies are getting Brandon Workman and Heath Hembree from the Red Sox. Nick Pivetta is going to Boston in the deal. One other pitcher headed Boston's way, too.

Acquiring half a bullpen after 20 games is such an indictment of Klentak I don’t even know how he can go on with things. This had to be from Middleton to get help.

Russ for Hale seems terrible on the surface. Don't projection systems already think Russ is better than Hale, then you add on that we would have been able to keep Russ for the next 6 years of he's good, and it's a head-scratcher.

This is what I was thinking, thanks for confirming
(Brandy) only hinted at Halladay's personal issues during her Hall of Fame speech last July, when she said, "Roy would want everyone to know that people are not perfect. We're all imperfect and flawed in one way or another. We all struggle."

I think if Middleton has started to insert himself that they'd be talking to JT about a contract.

I mean, they'll both be basically replacement level, most likely. I just don't see how you'd prefer Hale.

Be cool to Workman. His nickname is Boogie.
These guys need a little bit more lead in their diet.

Hale trade doesn’t seem to make much sense to me. Frankly I’m not sure this does either? I mean I guess you’re gambling here with some guys who are at the end of their deals to stop the bleeding but we’re gonna be 9-13 after tonight if we lose. Funny to complain about the pen and beg for change and then the change comes and I’m sitting here wondering if it’s worth it.

Sounds like Boston is paying $800K of the $1.1M owed to the two relievers

I mean unless you thought the 10th time was the charm for Pivetta I don't really see the downside. If he has potential the Phillies weren't getting it out of him. That in itself may be an organizational failure but we're sort of past that.

I'm okay with the Boston deal.

Like I said earlier I'd rather just give Russ a shot than trade him for Hale.
