It's hilarious that I was also thinking about this. If it goes off of record and run differential we'd have the #10 pick. Muts would have the #1 pick!

If they use the draft order based on these games, count me in.

Phillies getting tested today at Citizens Bank Park, sources tell The Athletic. Players are heading to park, then straight home. Not allowed to stay at field.

I'm assuming Wheeler was tested this morning since he and the family are in Jersey for baby photoshoots

Interesting nuggets from Gelb's recent piece:

"But some perceptive Phillies had been alarmed all weekend by how the Marlins had appeared to not stagger their arrivals and workouts and how few people in the Marlins dugout were wearing masks."

"There are questions, big and small. For example, can Didi Gregorius even play for the Phillies right now? He said earlier this month that the league classified him as a “high-risk individual.” Section 2.3.3 of MLB’s operations manual calls for added measures to protect “high-risk individuals” in the event of positive tests at a ballpark:

“For at least 72 hours following confirmation of the positive test result, no High-Risk Individual (as defined in Section 2.4) may enter any area within a Club facility in which the Covered Individual who tested positive has recently spent time, without prior written approval from MLB’s medical advisors (with respect to Club personnel) or the Joint Committee (with respect to players).”"

are players really going out at night and not following procedures already? If that's the case, just cancel the season now before someone gets killed. I mean, they can't quarantine like the rest of us at night?

You're giving me hope that this was just Marlins recklessness, and if it didn't transmit to any on-field Phillies, MLB plan is totally vindicated

(Except the parts where they don't test everyday, results take 24 hours to return, and teams have the right to play despite a bunch of new positives after a plane ride)

Phillies players, even if they were infected, are probably not going to show up as positive already. They will need to cancel the next few games to be sure.

I haven't read anything about how this whole thing was set up, but I assumed players were staying in at night, eating in the hotel, etc. Otherwise, this never had a chance to work.

Don't see the impact on NBA or NHL from this at this point, if anything it reminds them to be more careful.

It doesn't necessarily have to be going out at night that does it. The virus isn't a test of who's following procedures the best. Some of it is probably negligence, sure, but these guys are still living with and spending time around family members who may not be batting 1.000 in terms of proper procedures either.

There was zero chance they were ever going to keep a bunch of invincible athletes in their 20s and 30s from being stupid. Though to mcare's point, there are certainly chances to get it even while taking precautions with so many people.

Agree 100%. And unfortunately for the Phils, Yankees and Orioles, the Marlins seem to have been particularly lax and stupid early on.

Of course. I was basing my comment off the earlier post that people were going out. It could have easily been a non-player.

But I think if they are letting them go out during the day/night and run around the city, this will never work.
