Went from Covideo Dan to Novideo Dan in a flash

DOOMED!

Bet Girardi even defers the kickoff.

Sorry, @Phillies fans, for the unfortunate timing, but due to a necessary surgery today, after announcing 48 straight home openers, I will miss tonight’s game. Hopefully this procedure will allow me to return to Citizens Bank Park quickly. GO PHILLIES!

I think we all remember Dan Baker announcing my second place age group finish in the Phillies 5k, among other memorable moments. He'll be missed.

Teams are permitted to have advertisements on the field this season to recoup lost revenue. The Phillies have Independence Blue Cross logos down the first and third base lines.

Have a feeling ads on the field won't be going away after this season

That may not be such a bad thing. Hell, the Dodgers started Carrot Top last night.

According to Paige, his nickname originated from childhood work toting bags at the train station. He said he was not making enough money at a dime a bag, so he used a pole and rope to build a contraption that allowed him to cart up to four bags at once. Another kid supposedly yelled, "You look like a walking satchel tree."[11] A different story was told by boyhood friend and neighbor, Wilber Hines, who said he gave Paige the nickname after he was caught trying to steal a bag.

I honestly don't know if that means he was caught literally trying to steal someone's satchel (bag) or he was caught trying to steal a base. In any case, I find Satchel's version better.

Maybe I'm just being a homer. But I don't see what some of you are seeing for this season. We were the third best team in the NL last year when Cutch got hurt. We added Wheeler to the rotation. Last year Nola had his worst season in the last three. I expect him to be better. I think Segura, Didi and Kingery are going to be better in '20 than Franco, Segura and Hernandez were in '19. We didn't lose anything that we didn't replace with better IMO. Hoskins won't be worse. Haseley might be a weak link. But that's a small minus compared to what I believe are multiple pluses. Yes, our bullpen isn't very good. But is it worse this year than last? And yes, we're not awesome 3 through 5. But we were pretty bad 2 through 5 last year. I'm optimistic. Go Phillies!!!

I’m feeling pretty optimistic. The Phills had the 9th best record in the NL, the top 8* make it this year. Better coaching (Price, Girardi) and +Cutch and Didi to the lineup should provide an improvement. If we get decent production from the lineup, we’re probably in the playoffs. Harper, Rhys and JT have it in them to be on fire for 60 games, if we get that from one of them, we’ve got a pretty good shot at NL East 2 maybe even 1 depending on how things break.

That would be my prediction. ~34/35 wins. Second in the east. First if all the rest struggle.
