Yeah, there’s proof that you can’t rely on players to pull themselves if they feel that their health is threatened, and that is with things where there are tangible symptoms, headaches from concussions, bruises, swelling, pain etc. from physical injuries. To expect them to suddenly have the mind set to vote to cancel a game when they know that 3 players on the other team are sick with a virus that they can’t see or feel themselves is crazy. Over the years how have guys been perceived for taking themselves out of games for injuries, they’re called soft and selfish in the media and by their peers, to expect that hey are suddenly going to change because of COVID, especially when you have a lot of media and politicians in the media downplaying it and calling it a hoax, is just not a reasonable expectation. The league needed to have a protocol in place for this, I mean the players don’t even make the call to play the game if it’s raining out, the league/teams do why give the players the final say on this?

Unfortunately this truly is a case where one bad apple... Unless and until we get an effective vaccine even slavish cooperation — especially when combined with high-risk behavior baked into activities like professional baseball — isn’t going to stop the spread.

If the Marlins said they would play, and the Phillies refused, would that be considered a forfeit? Or if the Marlins had voted against playing, would they have also forfeited?

If the Phillies by some miracle do manage to continue to test negative, or even if they have only one or two positives, that probably gives a real shot in the arm to the season continuing as planned.

Maybe? Most of a team got infected and now other teams are being affected by it (Nats not going to Miami, games being cancelled, etc.)

Real Ken says it’s being discussed to having the Yankees go to Baltimore tonight and play the O’s while the Phillies and Marlins quarantine

I'm getting increasingly pissed at the Marlins. Nice job, dipshits.

If it wasn’t them, it would’ve been some other team. This was going to happen.

That's the right decision, if any Phils caught it they may not show positive for a few days.

statistically speaking does a person under the age of 50 in the US have a better chance of dying from Covid or being murdered?

@kaitlyncmcgrath
Just unpack that last RT from Ken. A team that may have been exposed to COVID-19 by another team that has lost half its roster to COVID-19 will isolate, then play another team who was barred from playing in its own country because the gov't was concerned about MLB’s plan to play
