2019-20 Phillies Offseason 2:Filling holes & swapping roles

What’s their plan at 3rd? Slot that Kieboom kid in there?

Their lineup is a lot less scary especially if Kendricks and Ass dribble fall back to earth.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

Real Ken says it’s not likely that Rendon goes back to Nats.

They are probably looking at Kieboom the way that we are with Bohm. We need a stopgap for a year, and we'll be opportunistic if Donaldson or other options are not too expensive.

Kieboom played practically all last year at AAA, got some ML time. Seems more likely to get the job day 1 than Bohm, so yeah we’re probably more likely for a stop gap.

Kieboom moved all over the infield skill positions, but only notched 10 games at 3rd last year.

Trea Turner played a little college ball at third, but head been sold at short, "his natural position".

I love Bryce Harper being a Phillies so much more than I expected. If what we're seeing this offseason is the plan signing him was a mistake

Don’t understand this take. They won 81 games last year. Wheeler, Cutch back, and a healthy pen likely adds another 9+ wins.

Maybe I'm just miserable tonight.

On offense I see 2 sure above average contributors by position - JT and Bryce. Beyond that it takes a lot of hope and optimism. For real success you need too many of:

Pre-injury Cutch
1st half 2019, 2nd half 2018 Rhys
1st half Kingery
2016 Segura
pre-injury 2018 Didi
2018 Reading Haseley
Drunk and stupid is no way to be remembered but it is an easy way to forget.

Olney thinks even after signing Didi that the Phillies make a ton of sense as a trade partner for Bryant.

I agree. The Cubs messing with his arb time probably ticked off Bryant and Boras. They most likely want out of Wrigleyville. He’s going to be a FA after this year or the next. His arb number for this round is estimated to be about $19M. The Cubs don’t seem comfortable with Bryant at 3B or LF. A package of Bohm, Segura and Medina would be about as good as the Cubs could expect for Bryant.

The Cubs want to cut salary, that's a big reason why they're trying to move Bryant. I doubt they'd want Segura.

If it's salary driven(it is), then might not Bohm, Medina and a lottery pick get it done?

If the Phillies took Heyward off of their hands, the price might really fall but that’s a bad contract to add.

It really seems like they won’t go over the tax right now. Maybe in July they would..

Heyward has a $23m luxury tax hit through the 2023 season and has posted ops+ figures of 68, 84, 94, 98 over the last 4 seasons. If you are adding Bryant at $19m you are adding $42m in payroll for just 2020. No way does that make any kind of sense.
