2019-20 Phillies Offseason: Striving for Better Than Average

Very much in favor of the Phillies hiring Dillon. Feels likely that Long would give an honest impression of him to Girardi given Long's history with Girardi.

Paternity leave will probably fall during the stretch drive. Selfish.

The Phillies will be pursuing the "Cole's" this winter. Yes, Wheeler rumors are true, they would likely pursue him if they can't get either of the Cole's.

Josh Donaldson is not on their radar despite reports. Moustakas, however, is. As is backup catcher, they will finally make that a priority, though obviously not top priority. Maldonado and Lucroy are potential names.

Ozuna is another name to look out for to plug in at CF, as Haseley could be moved in a potential trade, he would be coveted by teams.

I don't expect them to pursue Strasburg or Rendon.

All this talking about keeping their 2nd-round pick, it'd be stupid to blow it on Ozuna and not one of the major pitchers

JT on MLB Radio: "If they offer me a deal that's fair for both sides, and sets up my family for life, I would not be opposed to staying in Philadelphia one bit."

Thank god we aren't pursuing Rendon, he's one of those below-average frauds on the fake champion Nationals, who are not better than the Phillies.

If the Cole they sign is Hamels they should still pursue Wheeler.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Phillies’ search for a new hitting coach appears to be nearing the finish line, as three candidates have emerged from the pack.

The Phillies, according to a source, have narrowed their search to Nationals assistant hitting coach Joe Dillon, former Phillies hitting coach Matt Stairs, and current Mets hitting coach Chili Davis. The Phillies interviewed Stairs last week over the phone and have an interview scheduled this week with Dillon. Davis is not yet under contract for 2020 with the Mets.

I just don’t understand how signing Hamels would prevent you from pursuing another pitcher like Wheeler.
