(a) cole, who is no longer under contract, fell tantalizingly short of winning his first wfc ring with a team that will be favored to return to the series if he re-signs, and has had a career year under an apparently very good pitching coach....
or
(b) strasburg, who now already has his ring and is guaranteed very good money for four more years, but will very likely add another $100 million in guaranteed salary if he opts out and can assume that if that extra money comes from the nats they are likely to lose rendon and thus take a step backwards?
obviously it will be a bit easier to guess the answer if strasburg actually opts out, but, at present, i'm not sure which is more likely to end up a phil. or is the answer (c) rendon?

Prior to 1985 the world series was the only 7 game series. the only amazing thing about it is that the phillies had played in so few ws prior to 1985.

I am not convinced the Phils are a “long way off.” Add an ace, bring up Howard, reconfigure the bullpen, figure out third base, and we are all set imo.
