Is this for reals? We dump Kranitz for fear Young may take the Barves pitching coach job so then Kranitz goes there, our rotation implodes and we now jettison Young? That would be a comedy of errors.

This. Isn’t that a direct indictment of Klentak and the front office?

To fire Kapler now would be bullshit imo

So do you think the Young firing is at Kapler's direction? If it isn't, to have your hitting coach fired and former WS champ manager Cholly brought in by the owner and now your pitching coach and other staff dismissed seems very dysfunctional.

We still don't know anything even after today, which is kind of incredible. Montemurro says they've started picking up some coaches' contracts, so you can imagine that's maybe like Bob Stumpo, Bobby Dickerson, and a few others who would be inoffensive if a new manager came in and had those guys around. Does Young being gone make it look like Kapler is coming back? Sure, but there's now no PC, no HC, and a bench coach could be replaced easily if a new manager did come on. So we continue to sit here and wait.

I look forward to the article that comes out in a few months about what a cluster fuck this whole process was.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

LOL. Chris Young was offered another job in the organization. Nobody ever gets fired from the Phillies.

maybe someone feels that their talents can be maximized elsewhere and their deficiencies minimized elsewhere in the organization. don't get why it always has to be this treasure or trash mentality on everything.

It is unclear if Young will remain with the organization, but a source said he has been offered an opportunity to remain. Other coaches on manager Gabe Kapler’s staff have been told they will return in 2020, but it is unclear who and how many.

Whether or not Kapler returns, the Phillies will need to find at least new pitching and hitting coaches. Charlie Manuel is not expected to return as hitting coach. He filled the role vacated by John Mallee in August as a favor to Phillies managing partner John Middleton.

The Mets recently dismissed manager Mickey Callaway, who was a pitching coach with the Indians. He could be a candidate to replace Young. Recently dismissed Pirates pitching coach Ray Searage and former Phillies pitching coach Rich Dubee are two other intriguing candidates.

Seems like he was a pretty darned good scout prior to joining the Phils so that's probably the department where he will land.

I mean, the evaluation of Kapler by Middleton and Klentak should have been going on during the last two weeks of the season, no? Why wait and then begin this process when the season ends? It shouldn't take weeks to make this decision.

Unless they're waiting for Maddon's to decide where he's going.

That's the only way it would make sense to me. They only want to dump Kapler if they can get Maddon or whomever they are specifically targeting, and if they can't get him then they won't make a change.
Yes son. I'm the best mono-thingy guy there ever was.

Keeping and firing coaches without committing to a manager seems weird

Flyers like

Maybe they will just have a robot that they send commands down to during the game. Shouldn't be hard to program in the next few months. They can steal the robot from Giant if they need a body.

Kinda doubt it. I think some of last year's moves were to favor Gabe but if they're this undecided I doubt they cater to him again.

Yea. I think what is happening is this:

*They're waiting to see if Maddon or Girardi or whoever bites. Will keep Gabe if not

**They took shit last year for waiting until November on firing Kranitz. Maybe trying to avoid that sort of fiasco again this year. Don't want coaches to think if they take a job here that the org will can them at a time that keeps them out of that offseason's job market
