I don't get where Middleton is becoming "Meddleton". He saw a team that underperformed expectations at the plate and on the mound after spending some serious cash to not have that happen. He intervened and had both the hitting and pitching coaches fired. If that's meddling, good for that. If the owner of a recently acquired corporation had two sectors of it that were seriously underperforming after investing heavily in them, they'd be remiss if they didn't check into that and probably roll some heads. Middleton is doing the same thing with the Phillies. That's not meddling; its sound management.
But why overstep MacPhail and Klentak if you're keeping them?

Noontime passed on Wednesday and still there was no verdict on Gabe Kapler. Maybe the Phillies will say something about the future of their manager on Thursday or Friday.
It is difficult to envision the team saying anything the remainder of Wednesday because two decisive Division Series games will be played later in the day. The Cardinals and Braves play at 5 p.m., and the Dodgers and Nationals at 8:30. Major League Baseball frowns on teams making major announcements during its signature October events and the games are about to get even bigger with the National League Championship Series starting on Friday night and the American League Championship Series commencing on Saturday.
So if you’re looking for a window for an announcement on whether Kapler is staying or going, it could be Thursday or Friday — early in the day before the focus turns to the action on the field.

Well, the Andrew Miller joke was beat to death on this board.
Side note. The Phillies (Middleton) has made his decision. An announcement should be coming shortly..

He's coming back. Expect an announcement in the next 24 hours.
