No idea who made this new playoff format proposal, but Rob is responsible for releasing it, so I’ll direct this to you, Rob Manfred. Your proposal is absurd for too many reasons to type on twitter and proves you have absolutely no clue about baseball. You’re a joke.
Guy gives zero fucks and I kind of love it.

BigEd76 wrote:yeah they're trying to eliminate the "4 pitchers in one inning" bullshit, but as long as the pitcher comes in and ends the inning, that's fine
Also notice the rule change where you have to wait until extra innings to use a position player to pitch UNLESS your team is up/down by 7+

Thanks, I missed that part. I don’t love the 3 batter minimum thing, but agree with swish on the previous page.

I've read that there's no real science behind the traditional pitcher's wind up, that is no evidence that helps pitchers to throw pitches that are faster, or with more bite on the breaking ball, or really do anything at all. And yet, it is well-documented that pitchers generally fare better with nobody on base than with runners on. So I thought about this and I thought that this must have something to do not with the wind up per se, but with pitchers being more cognizant of delivering the ball a little faster with runners on. This means they can't get quite as much on their pitches, etc. But then I thought, "Well, if that were true, what would it matter if the guy on first were anchored there, like the pitcher or Pat Burrell, versus if you had somebody on base who could actually swipe a bag, like J-Roll?"
Which led me to wonder: can we isolate data that show how pitchers perform with anybody on base versus how they perform with real SB threats on base (like, let's say top 20% of base stealers in a given year)? Does it make any difference? Would this be an argument for getting not just speedsters but people truly capable of stealing, not so much for the extra bags but because of the drop in performance of the pitcher that it causes?
I don't have time to find out the answers but someone figure this out: it could be the next "undervalued skill" in the baseball market!
