He's really cool. Glad he's a Phillies.

I would probably move Cesar up. My excitement really wanes after the four spot, but I know that's partly irrational based on how blah the team has been in recent years.

I like this move.

Tremendous leader / character guy who should get on base, hit 25 HR and play great defense.

Get one of the big 2 and the lineup has been massively upgraded.

McCutchen rocked a 120 wRC+ last year.
Phillies with a higher wRC+, minimum 150 PA - Hoskins.

His ISO was 58 points higher (!!!) with the Yankees than with the Giants. Looking at his HR chart overlaid with CBP, tho, I don't think that's anything to worry about.

Great sign. Maybe a year longer than I would've liked, but tough to complain at that price. Less risk than Brantley and fills a huge hole in our lineup (LF) until one of the youngsters is ready.

Still need a RF and a 3B. Anyone decent still available?

Heard #Phillies choice came down to McCutchen vs Brantley at similar prices. Brantley’s LH bat fit better but durability was huge issue and Pha went with McCutchen

This signing should mean b’bye to Odubel since he can’t play CF anymore, at least not well enough.

Wasn't too high on signing either, but would've rather had Brantley.

If Roman Quinn weren't injured every year of his life this is something I'd probably consider. But I don't know how you can go into 2019 without Odubel on the roster, you need a CF. He was probably a bit out of shape last year but I don't think that disqualifies him from playing center ever again.

I doubt they trust Quinn enough to just hand it over. I could see both playing in 2019. Think its more likely that this is b'bye to Williams.

McCutchen probably shouldn't be a CF either at this point.

McCutchen isn't a CF anymore, maybe for a spot start here and there, but not a full-timer. He's definitely destined for one of the corners.

If they knew Quinn would stay healthy they’d give him the job in a NY minute.

We can continue to play Dubes in CF but we’ll regret it. It would negate a good part of any offseason improvement. Give the job to Quinn and make sure you’ve got a decent backup until Haseley is ready.

I think giving the job to Quinn is even more insane. Why not just keep Odubel and Quinn, and use Quinn as a defensive replacement/part-time starter while seeing if he can stay healthy? Why are we in such a rush to get rid of Odubel without even considering what we're getting in return for doing so? He makes less money than Juan Nicasio this year.

My guess is he's our new LF to replace Hoskins. He played 12 games there for the Yanks, which brings his career LF game total to......12.

Guess I need to slow down. The reason to get rid of o’dubes now is because Cutch can really only play a corner. Since o’dubes can’t play a decent CF anymore, signing Cutch makes him more expendable than ever.
