A contract for that level of executive definitely has a “for cause” clause which won’t protect him from being fired but the determination of whether the clause has been breached will make a very significant difference in any severance package.

Having said that, I’m sure that the more important priority for the Sixers is whether Colangelo should or should not continue and that having to pay out his contract will not prevent them from firing him if they decide to do so. IOW, they’re not going to keep him just because they have to pay him. It’s just a matter of the cost of that decision.

I do think the delay, especially if it goes to Friday, suggests Eversley will probably will run the draft and free agency

The longer this goes on, the more I think he may be innocent.

If he did it or knew about it, at some point he'd have to recognize that they are going to bust him. And if he waits for that, it will be 10 times more embarrassing than him just resigning and saying something like, "It wasn't me, but I don't want to be a distraction for this franchise". So, if he did it/knew it, he would have likely done that already.
