“A trade is a trade. You can’t do anything about it,” said Velasquez, who joined the Phillies in December 2015. “I’m not going to be like, ‘Well, you traded me and this is what you lost.’ It’s not a boyfriend-girlfriend situation. This is baseball. But again, it’s one of those things where it’s an old team and I’m going to try to be dominant.”
“It’s fun to face an old team,” said Velasquez, a second-round pick by Houston in 2010. “I know some of the guys. I played with a lot of them. It’s different. I’ll just take it as it is and we’ll wait until that day comes. I’m trying to not get too hyped about it right now. But probably in the heat of the moment, I’ll get more excited.”
“When I found out I was a little bit excited, but I can’t get too caught up in the emotions. Just keep calm as much as possible.”
