Phillies General Discussion II: The Season of Suck Continues

“A trade is a trade. You can’t do anything about it,” said Velasquez, who joined the Phillies in December 2015. “I’m not going to be like, ‘Well, you traded me and this is what you lost.’ It’s not a boyfriend-girlfriend situation. This is baseball. But again, it’s one of those things where it’s an old team and I’m going to try to be dominant.”

“It’s fun to face an old team,” said Velasquez, a second-round pick by Houston in 2010. “I know some of the guys. I played with a lot of them. It’s different. I’ll just take it as it is and we’ll wait until that day comes. I’m trying to not get too hyped about it right now. But probably in the heat of the moment, I’ll get more excited.”

“When I found out I was a little bit excited, but I can’t get too caught up in the emotions. Just keep calm as much as possible.”

guess we know who's on the block:
“Well, if I were scouting for another organization, I’d recommend him,” Mackanin said after his team won for the fifth time in seven games. “Not only is he a good hitter, but he plays solid defense out there. I’m sure there’s a lot of interest in a lot of our guys. Neshek, (Kendrick), even (Joaquin) Benoit. (Daniel) Nava.”

Seems like there are no rumors about any potential trades.

Too early?

I think the names of players that are likely to be traded are known, the returns we get back on these guys range from hundreds of different prospects so I don't think you will hear much in terms of potential returns.

I think Neshek will get us a really high end low level prospect.

I agree with WilliamC

- Neshek good but young prospect (i.e., crap shoot player, maybe as hopeful as Pivetta who I was excited about)
- Nava gets us some utility/filler AAAA body with some upside or cut
- Kendrick stays with the team because, just because
- Joseph is a wild card either netting something decent in return (another Joseph like prospect full of uncertainty), or just as likely to start the Fall golf season the Phils roster

Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that the Nationals, Dodgers, and Red Sox are among the clubs who closely scouting Phillies reliever Pat Neshek.
Neshek is a popular name right now, as FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported last week that the Brewers and Rays were also in the mix. An impending free agent, the 36-year-old Neshek owns a dominant 1.12 ERA and 45/5 K/BB ratio over 40 1/3 innings this season. He's coming off his second career All-Star selection.

I'm sure the meatloaf didn't hang around long if they were.

429 OBP for Cesar in the 8 games since he's come off the DL

correlation: we've scored more than 5 runs in all but the most recent of those games
