There have been 6 good years in the last 30+ years (from 1984 on). No one is surprised.

Possible destinations:

Seattle - Tommy Joseph
Toronto - Cameron Rupp
Colorado - C. Hernandez

Need for utility player - Howie K, Galvis
Relievers - Neshek, Benoit
Starters - Hellickson

I'd be looking for low minors, high ceiling prospects in return.

Phils are deep in regards to stinky pitchers.

Yeah but I'd take a chance on him before giving more chances to Eflin, Thompson and the throw-nothings

The city is numb to it. A historic championship gap between 83 sixers and 08 Phillies . And just when you thought philly was moving in the right direction another historic gap of no playoff appearances over the past 4 years JFC

The Flyers made the playoffs last year.

I get that no prospect is going to change the outcome of this year but I don't really get this organization's hesitance to bring kids up at all... especially when the prevailing opinion in the league has no problem fast tracking kids at 20-21 years old if they are excelling... I get Kingery hasn't spent much time in the minors but is 23, played a college career and is excelling... not a lot of reason not to give him a shot... same with Hoskins... but there is a decision to made with Joseph there I understand that... but what good does it do to have these guys killing it in the minors at 24-25 years old... plus it might spark something in Philly with a little new blood in the lineup... we're not struggling... we can't win a single game

On tv the other night they were saying that Kingery doesn't have to go on the 40 man, and be protected in the rule 5 draft, until after next season and the FO is worried about 40 man spots / rule 5 protection because they have so many guys that will need to be protected this year. So I guess it kind of makes sense in that, kingery isn't going to move the needle this year and if bringing him now causes you to lose someone that you would have rather kept this offseason what's the point?

I do get that but it seems we worry about this much more than other organizations... mostly for spots for players who never pan out... didn't we just trade Joely... did we fill his spot on the 40 man? I hate to waste a year or two of a guy like Kingery or Hoskins who are ready in the minors

Yeah and they put Casey Fien on the 40-man LOL. I'm with your line of thinking in general... this roster will get interesting over the next couple of off-seasons and there are some very interesting guys that they're going to have to make tough decisions on, but they do seem to worry about it more than most teams.

I'm ok with that for awhile with Kingery... I wonder though with some of these guys who were top prospects like JPC and Nick Williams that they feel like they were going to be in the majors last year and now start to lose that momentum, drive whatever and get comfortable and they start to regress... Not saying that's a great trait but frustration can lead to complacency... a lot of teams seem to ride the wave of momentum as far as it goes whether the kid is 20 or 23... we just seem ultra conservative

Not sure Williams and especially JPC have shown enough to be promoted to the bigs.

Williams I wouldn't mind seeing. I don't think he's going to change his stripes, might as well see what he can do. I'm surprised they haven't parked Charlie in lehigh to straighten jpc out. Seems like it's all correctable issues with his hitting.

The thing is what if they never excel at AAA... when do we give them a chance to sink or swim or are we happy with what we are getting from Freddy Galvis and Michael Saunders... we won like 5 games or something since April... change at some spots might be ok

They really haven't. But this is William's second full season at AAA and since the Phil's are headed for 110 losses they may as well see how he looks.

There are enough players coming in the OF that we need to start giving ABs now to find out about them. It takes at leasta full season to see what someone can do. If we don't start seeing these guys soon, we'll run out of time and we'll have to trade or release guys who could end up being good. Also, it's not always the top prospects who work out. I'd like to see a bit of perkins, too.

Agreed. At this point we as well find out what we've got.

I'd much rather see Perkins or Pullin get at bats than Saunders

I think Williams will be the first guy called up. They'll probably give Saunders until the all-star break to see if can "get so so hotttt he carries a 25 man baseball roster on his back". There's really no risk to that other than Williams going into a prolonged slump in AAA.

Why isn't Pullin in AAA?

Probably could be with Quinn on the DL. My guess is he will be once Williams is promoted.
