Really not sure we're going to get much of anything for any of our guys and frankly Neshek and Kendrick are currently playing as well as you could expect.

What other strategy can you take though really at this point? Spending big money on Free Agents that aren't that good and tying up money they want to use in a few years?

i don't think that was even the intent, just an added possibility.

If I'm following the discussion correctly, the cash will then be used to buy Powerball tickets?

Right, I think the intent was to field a relatively competitive team without tying up spots for the future.

Second part is working at least.

So do we just play Kendrick/Blanco at second and start Nava or actually call up a prospect... no way Kingery gets a look, right?

I think they are going to keep Kingery down and maybe experiment with some different positions.

"Two home runs, four RBIs if the wall is not there," Franco said.

He shook his head.

"I know," Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said. "They both would have been [homers]. But we're here, so ... it bodes well for him. I'm glad to see Mikey looking like we know he can swing the bat."

on Lively:
"He really shows no fear," Mackanin said. "He throws strikes and comes right after the hitters. If you don't throw hard but you locate your fastball in the right spot, you have a chance to be successful. He attacks the hitters. He has that drive. He shows no fear on the mound.

"Now, I'm sure at some point he's going to be tested. How he rebounds is important. But it's not all about velocity. It's about makeup and location and command."

Wonder what it would take to get Gausman from the Orioles? Tommy Joseph?

Phils are deep in regards to stinky pitchers.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

i really need to start listening to podcasts in my car ride. listening to once a week jayson stark 'debate' with mike misannelli complaining today about the lack of return in ruben's trades before he left was annoying, hearing jayson call alfaro 'jesus' instead of jorge, twice, was a bit annoying.

my actual drive home highlight was when 97.3 was coming in and they had keith law on going through all the minor leaguers. i give law credit, he did not refrain from letting people know when he wasn't sure of things ('is crawford hitting over or under .200 right now?' 'did they move kingery to aaa yet?')

It think it's actually getting under reported both locally and nationally just how monumentally bad this team is... maybe it's the promise of the Sixers and the draft, the Flyers lucking into a star draft pick and the Eagles camp but there doesn't seem to be much anger as I'd expect...

This is their 6th straight bad year. The city has them on ignore now.
