Phillies General Discussion II: The Season of Suck Continues

That game was in 98, it was a day after I graduated high school, me and my friends were going to go there and head to wildwood right after the game but decided to skip the game because of the rain and headed down the shore.

And yeah it was against the pirates, pretty sure this game put them at .500 for the season in mid June, which was exciting in 1998

I remember the Harry call of this homer because you could hear Wheels in the background making some weird chuckling noise and whatever girl that worked on CSN (I think it was Leslie Gudel) couldn't stop laughing at Wheels call on sports nite after the game

Interested to see if Perkins can hold his own in the bigs - hope they give him some PT before Hernandez comes back.

Rather see Williams than Perkins. Probably some divine dim stuff going on.

I have a long and specific memory of the sequence of events from the game, as it is still the most memorable live event I have ever attended, World Series included. It was just such a delightful surprise for such a small group of people. My buddy and I are visible in the 98 highlight video forvlieberthal's post game curtain call.

Also buh-bye Jeanmar and Saunders.

If he can do decently, he be a nice bench bat - hopefully reasonable contact and can play all three outfield spots

I have always been a big Cam Perkins fan...but why Cam over Nick Williams or Cozens?

I'm guessing when they bring them up they want them to get constant ABs, not sure Perkins is going to get that right away

I understand that.

Ty Kelly and Daniel Nava are certainly the future of the team.

Seriously, I get it... Nava may have trade value. Showcase him.

But why not recall Stassi?

Yep. Probably a platoon with Nava for now. When Nava is traded (most likely for a PTBN) or released then we should see Williams. Perkins definitely deserves this but I'd rather have Williams to play every day. We're not getting anything of value for Nava, he should be a back-up to Williams.

I think Klentak made a pretty big mistake doing this so soon after saying he would be patient with Saunders. Philly media is going to use that soundbite frequently to question him.
