Super Bowl MVP QB Nick Foles

I know several people have clarified his contract status, but isn’t he signed for like 3 years if he gets traded by a certain date?

I’d think a few years of competent to otherworldly QB play for a value contract would fetch a decent price.

This is what sportrac lists as the conditions

Nick Foles signed a two year, $11 million contract with the Eagles on March 16, 2017. Foles received $7 million in guarantees, including a $3 million signing bonus. For salary cap purposes the Eagles added three voidable contract years to prorate the money. The 2019, 2020, and 2021 years will automatically void if an extension is not reached. Another $6 million in incentives are available.

Wonder if they threw in a $1M incentive for being Super Bowl MVP?

So even if he’s traded the other team would need to extend him or those years get voided. Weird

Yep. It lets them spread out the signing bonus over three years instead of two. It saved them about a million bucks on their cap this year and next.

We could use a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick, no?

Caplan. I would believe Shefty, he has good sources.

Yeah, we can draft a QB and hope he has a ceiling of Super Bowl MVP.

Well it's not like Foles will be here for more than 1 year.

Again, Foles>Bradford. Maybe the Vikings overpaid for Bradford. (Well, they almost certainly did.) By not by that much.

I scoff at the playoffs didn't "move the needle much". Had Julio caught that TD and we lost to Atlanta, we probably couldn't get a 5th rounder for Foles.

Anyone who watched the NFC championship game and Super Bowl and watched Foles throw the ball repeatedly, accurately into tight windows, move intelligently in the pocket, and convert 4th downs under pressure and DOESN'T value him highly is an idiot. Foles had one bad season as a 1/2 year starter under Jeff "I'm an offensive wasteland" Fisher, was exceptional as a back-up for Andy Reid, led the league in QBR under Chip Kelly and was 6-2 when Kelly benched him the following year, then came off the bench replacing the likely league MVP and won a ring. How is he not worth emptying the bank vault if you're a QB away from contending? Buffalo, Jacksonville, Minnesota, and Denver should offer the moon and hope the Eagles blink.

The "Nick Foles isn't that good" people watched too many Rams games.

Agree with PC...

Think Polian oversold it by saying AT LEAST two 1's and 2's just to start talks. But he should easily bring a 1&2.

eh, he was awesome in a (very important) pinch but it remains to be seen if he can stretch that success out over many many games moving forward. He can run an offense like a pro but he isn't some rising star with an x factor that you must bank on. The truth is he has as much chance of flaming out as he does to lead a new team to success.

If the Eagles are offered a 1st AND A 2nd Howie would make it happen immediately. I honestly think he will do it for a 1st if that happens but I think a 2nd is most realistic.

People will say well the Eagles got a 1st for Bradford, but you have to remember that some of these teams are starting to learn by how these trades turned out. The Eagles bent the Vikings over in that deal and don't think that isn't in the back of the minds of these teams making offers to Howie.
