Makes the whole Jackson decision worse every time you see Cooper out there. Jackson, Maclin and Matthews would be really nice.

Although Chip is putting on the supportive stance for Foles, he abhors turnovers and if Nick keeps it up, you can rest assured Chip won't stick with him.

Should have drafted manziel
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

I thought he was much more protective of Foles this morning on WIP than he normally is, which was interesting

Actually, I don't know shit about football which is why I usually keep my mouth shut in these threads.

Yes, I was referring to Dilfer and McMahon. Also, Brad Johnson (2003 Buccaneers) and Namath were not good QBs.

Cards had zero respect for Cooper. They played single safety to the opposite side. Left the corner 1v1 all game. Any kind of double move might of gotten it but he was out there alone.

My eyes tell me Cooper is fucking horrible.

Pro Football Focus tells me that he is 62nd out of 62 WRs that play at least 60% of his team's snaps. And that he's only that high because he grades out positively on blocking.

So yeah, he's a disaster.

Namath's career has to be judged by the period in which he played.

4× AFL All-Star selection (1965, 1967, 1968, 1969)
Pro Bowl selection (1972)
AP First-Team All-AFL (1968)
3× AP Second-Team All-NFL/AFL (1967, 1969, 1972)
2× AP AFL MVP (1968, 1969)
2× UPI AFL Player of the Year (1968)
UPI AFL Rookie of the Year (1965)
PFW NFL Comeback Player of the Year (1974)
American Football League Champion (1968)
Super Bowl champion (III)
Super Bowl III MVP
AFL All-Time Team
Bronze Medallion (New York City award) (1969)
First quarterback to throw 4,000 yards in one season (1967)
New York Jets #12 retired
Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee (1985)

It might be fair to say that the legend exceeds the performance, but not to say he wasn't a good QB.

Point conceeded. I was iffy on Putting Namath on the list, anyway.

Dilfer, Johnson and McMahon were not good QBs though.

Actually, the statement was that the only thing that you needed to win a SB was an outstanding QB. So while it is a misnomer to same that Namath was not a good QB, I don't think that you can say that he was an outstanding QB, either. In the SB, he went 17/28 for 206 yards with no touchdowns. I am not sure that Foles ever had a game with that little production. Different era, though so he probably isn't the best example of my point.

In his SB win, Hostetler went went 20/32 for 222 yards and a touchdown. Not earth-shattering by any stretch and easily attainable by Foles.

By the way, Johnson went 18/34 for 215 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Dilfer went 12/25 for 153 yards and a touchdown. McMahaon went 12/20 for 256 yards with 2 touchdowns (both rushing).

no that wasn't the statement, it was "QB play" by which i meant you just need a QB to get hot for the playoff stretch

OK. Which of Dilfer, Johnson and McMahon were hot through the playoffs?

you're citing 3 examples out of 50 years. all of them had elite hall of fame defenses, like the entire defense was hall of famers for those squads. and the most recent of your examples was like 10 years ago.

Here's a happy thought--maybe Chip isn't good at evaluating NFL QBs. Consider--Barkley, Sanchez, Foles. (Yes, I know Reid drafted Foles. But Chip made him the starter with no real plan B.)

i just mean, i think there are way more examples of elite QB play from most of the recent superbowl winners than not (even if the QB was only hot for the playoff stretch)

i can only hope foles pulls something like that out of his ass this year
