Super Bowl MVP QB Nick Foles

Young QBs make them ALL the time, and it isn't necessarily fair to expect Foles to live up to what he did last year. Those things are mechanical -- on both picks, he made the right read, just bad throws. They're backbreakers, but at least you know he made the right throw.

But all of a sudden, he is cowering in the face of pressure. I don't know if that's something I've ever seen a QB recover from. He overreacts to teams just showing blitz. Bowles knew it -- look at that play to end the game last night. Bowles knew Foles was going to back up as soon as the ball was snapped, and he'd have to make an extremely low-percentage throw to win the game. How many throws did he make yesterday that had just no chance at all of being completed?

A silver lining could be that it's out of character, from everything I've read and seen. Maybe he'll get a psychological boost from Kelce (especially) and Mathis returning

Foles isn't "not tough" because he gets up and keeps ticking when he gets hit. The problem is that he tries too hard to NOT get hit. It's Gabbert/Kolb syndrome. I almost wonder if it's better if he DOES get hit early and realizes he won't die. His best game this year was Washington when he got the crap kicked out of him.

This, frankly, is BS.

They blew coverage on Brown but had been good for most of the game. Floyd didn't catch a pass, outside of Fitz's long TD on a perfectly executed pick play he was held in reasonable check. They're not great, but they're more than good enough to win if the offense doesn't blow in the red zone.

Definitely. They left at least 14 points on the field. The Huff fumble I can overlook for now, lots of rookie WR's have issues securing the ball. The Cromartie INT was inexcusable though and 100% on Foles.

both INTs were horrendous

I'd even say the second one was worse. 17-14 Eagles late in the 3rd with the ball. Huge momentum swing.

Yeah that's seems really insensitive now given his problems, sorry it reads like that. What I meant was before his concussion problems, he often drifted backwards in the pocket, which is what Foles is doing now.

It looked like he held onto the ball too long and thru the ball behind (I believe it was) Cooper.

nah, I know what you meant. It just really strikes home sometimes...I get frustrated in-game when watching flags get thrown around QBs, then I understand why they do it after the game.

In any vent, Foles doesn't know what he's doing in the pocket. That much seems clear to me.

Good point about the Washington game being his best game. He was planting with his back foot and letting it rip.

He looks a lot better under center than shotgun so there's that.

If he gets healthy, i would bring Brad Smith in the game when we get inside the ten yard line. If we're going to run out of shotgun by the goalline, you need a guy that makes the defense at least honor the fact that he may tuck it and run. Smith would allow for that and he can throw it a little bit.

This team can win a Super Bowl this year, especially with the fact that Seattle doesn't look it will have HFA throughout... It's frustrating to see them stall on offense so badly at times.

What would have been the score if McNabb in his prime played yesterday?

It's hard not to think about Donovan in this offense

I don't think Foles issues are correctable. I've never really seen a heavy footed QB correct that And that, in turn, leads to the backpedaling, throwing off your back foot, and not generating enough momentum when you do plant and throw so the ball comes out poorly. Great QB's don't have to be fast, they just have to be able to maneuver the pocket. It's what Foles does worst. Sanchez does it better. I want to see Sanchez. I don't think there's a downside to going to him besides creating a media firestorm. It's a Chip Kelly move. I hope he does it.

As bad as he has looked, his metrics really aren't that bad. What I don't know is whether we are seeing a good QB struggling (Bad Eli esque) or is he a mediocre to baf QB being propped up by one of the best systems in football?

Also, Cooper blows so that does not help.

When you compare Cooper's contract to what Sanders and Tate got, it puts it more into perspective how bad a move that was.

I dunno if the Cooper comment is just an aside in general, but he had no fucking chance on that interception. He was open and the ball was a yard behind him.

No, that was all Foles. Just as an aside, it would probably be helpful if Foles had at least a league average second wideout.
