ugh (did allow us to sign Brand fwtw)

Then we had to trade the pick to dump Calvin booths salary because billy king gave him a player option for some reason.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

Sixers didn't have a 1st that year because they traded it for Jerome moiso. Which coincidentally is the last time the sixers and Celtics made a trade.

And if memory serves me, we bought that pick from the Nets with money they used to purchase a copier machine.

Is that the last one we're getting before the draft? It's only 38 minutes.

I don't know why but it freaked me out to see that David West was in the same draft as LeBron and Carmelo.

I heard the conversation with Chad Ford about Okafor and other stuff. When the host asked, "what if they offered Okafor and their own pick next year back to LA" - he hesitated and said, well if LA went for that, they should jump all over that! But he didn't seem to think that the Lakers if they are really going you - would prefer a Russell, Randle, Okafor core. He seemed to think Ingram was special in a way those 3 are not. He said though, that if the Lakers stnagged Durant or some other FAs and didn't just go for the young re-build then...

Also, does LA expect to be 2nd or 1st pick next year? If not, then they are giving up a talented 2nd overall this year for maybe getting back a #5-9 overall next year?

On the other hand - 20 year old 7 foot centers from Duke, who can really score don't grow on trees.

I'm all in on Simmons AND Ingramm - but seems unlikely.

I heard that in the '83 final when the Sixer's swept the Lakers - they did not make a single 3 pointer!

If Okafor's game doesn't fit the current times - then Hinkie may have mis-calculated. Of course, if we had gotten the 2nd pick last year, we'd have Russell and I'm not sure he's a future super-star.

Let's face it - the Sixer's entire short-term fate - rests upon Embiid.

- being healthy
- being the dominant 2nd coming of Olajuwon we all hope/think he can be

Once that starts to be real - then we can see who and how other pieces fit around - and hopefully like the Warriors, we can assemble a team concept where guys play a role. We will need some 3 point shooting and defense. Hopefully Simmons gets excited. I have a feeling he doesn't want to go to Phila., but rather go to Lakers. But... that could change if Embiid emerges and the Sixer's become the 'new thing'.

Having an Inagram with his length and scoring and Simmons with his multi-skills and ball-handling - then you fill in with a 2 who can nail 3's and a point who can push the ball and defend - and just like that - we're a team again.

Or ---

Lakers wouldn't do Okafor and their pick for Ingram.

Chad Ford:

Tier 1

Ben Simmons, F, LSU

Last draft, we had just one player in this category: Karl-Anthony Towns. This tier is usually reserved for guys who are sure-fire All-Stars or franchise players. Only six other players have been ranked in this slot since we started doing this in 2009: Blake Griffin, John Wall, Anthony Davis, Andrew Wiggins, Joel Embiid and Jabari Parker.

You have to be more than good to get here. You have to be elite.

The only other player nominated for Tier 1 by various teams was Brandon Ingram. But while some teams see Ingram as a potential superstar, the majority had him in Tier 2.

Spoke to several teams that had Cal forward Jaylen Brown in for draft workouts. All 3 said his performance was stellar. Shot the ball really well. Was in great shape. After a shaky freshman season, he may be rising in the draft. He has elite physical tools. Celtics seriously considering him at 3.
