Putin The Donald in the White House - Politics

I do not think that the Roosevelt cousins are a good comparison. Teddy (1901-1909) was 26 and FDR 32 (1933-1945), so that 24 years between is not really a legacy line. I would completely agree that the Adams' lineage should have scared the young nation. Jedediah's aspirations certainly was hurt by dynasty rumors (I might be wrong, but I think Momma Bush might have been related to Warren Harding).

** I cannot let the irony pass that this is the first post on 'page' 41. Should play the lottery today.

she's not going to run, pretty sure she hates politics. she was just on the campaign trail because she was probably really shocked about trump. it's all moot. i agree dynasties aren't great.

Ooo, nice.

So, it's Thursday. Trump told us he'd tell us what he knew about the hacking on 'Tuesday or Wednesday'. Did I miss it or was that just another outright lie and falsehood?

one of us will incredulously post the GOP/Alex Jones talking point about how it's Obama's fault, and there will be little ripples of similar outrage all over the internet, and then all the guys that have bald eagle avatars and pictures of Panzer tanks as their background will buy it and vote for Trump again in 2020.

The talking point will be that if the Dems had been willing to work with the GOP in 2009-10, the ACA wouldn't have been such a (supposed) dumpster fire. And now the grown-ups have to come in and fix the problems created by the entitled elite liberal children. So it's not our fault that you lost your insurance--blame Obama/Reid/Pelosi for not giving you better (private) insurance in the first place.

This is huge. Ralph Northam was going to get crushed in the general (for non-Virginians, he's our Lieutenant Governor, a position which does almost nothing except break ties in the Senate). At least now, he'll have to get his name out there for primaries and create actual support.

Even if Northam ends up winning the primary (he has a huge early fundraising lead), this will be a rare scenario where a contested primary is a good thing for the party, especially if it stays a two-person race.

little doubt it will win. the rules are absurd and have no basis in science.

yeah, i was just being obtuse..obviously he had nothing and was blustering. it's amazing this stuff works on so many people. the logic just isn't there...why would he need to wait for hte briefing before he lets us know what HE says HE knows that the people briefing him don't know? it's all just obvious conman BS. i'm worried how easily so many people: 1. don't care 2. some are fooled by it!

yes, that's what he was going to tell us on tuesday or wednesday, what he knows about the 14 year old 300 pounder in the basement hacking everything under the sun that we, the IC and all the private firms didn't. you also won't believe what he found in Hawaii.

The Trump “I Know Things Other People Don’t” revelations on so-called "14-year old, 400-pound-guy, sitting-on-a-couch-in-New-Jersey hacking" was delayed indefinitely perhaps more time needed to fabricate a new story. Very strange!

so what does russia have on trump. is it just terrible financial ties with potential human rights abuses or is it like railing coke off of a 15 year old?

fair assessment of the report, its follies and its final findings:
But unlike the Bush administration’s ruse leading up to the invasion of Iraq, it’s unlikely the Obama administration is manufacturing a case against Russia out of thin air. I know no one in the cyber security community who does not actually believe that cyber espionage operators involved in the hack of the DNC are indeed connected in some way to Russian intelligence.

In this case, rather than manufacture evidence, the U.S. government couldn’t organize itself to present it convincingly. The real problem here is not political subterfuge. It is, rather, symptomatic of a larger syndrome of how we as a society deal with cyber security issues today.

The NSA and other intelligence agencies have extraordinary capabilities that provide unparalleled visibility into digital networks, and especially the networks of their adversaries like Russia. Having spent many months closely examining the Snowden disclosures I can at least partially attest to their prowess in this regard. The data to which they have access would undoubtedly show precisely who did what, when, and how.

we'll simply never be privy to this data due to secrecy with info for the govt and proprietary reasons with places like Crowdstrike and Fidelis. This allows Trump, greenwald, et al to continue to posit that 'we dont know who it was'. Trust in institutions is simply at all-time lows right now due to previous administrations manhandling information for political reasons (the now much decried War in Iraq, for example) edit: and people feeling govt isn't working for them.

So, because previous data and analysis was used for political purposes, this analysis has been deemed political and has become an issue of faith. most people no longer have faith. But, that's part of what one side has been trying to do for an entire generation now, whittle down faith in government.

I LMFAO with the non-Virginians given that there are like 4 of us, but anyway. Next I though 'what is the Lt. Gov's name, and why do I care about him. Then third I though about how good a candidate Perriello, and reflexively how bad for the commonwealth Corey Stewart could be.

Here's the thing: In order to be professional and maintain their integrity Intelligence officials will have to admit there's a chance, even if minuscule, that someone else did the hacking. That tiny sliver will be enough for Trump to march a parade through. There's no way on God's green earth he'll ever admit it was the Russians, no matter how damning the evidence.
