Nobody should be allowed to burn the American flag - if they do, there must be consequences - perhaps loss of citizenship or year in jail!

I thought we had a separation of church and state?
The Veterans Department of Affairs suggests starting by folding the flag in a customary triangle manner. Then prepare a large enough fire space to sufficiently burn the flag completely. Next place the flag in the fire and while it burns, individuals at the ceremony should salute or recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Finally, end the ceremony with a moment of silence and bury the ashes once the flag is completely consumed.

16,000 have been displaced from Eastern Aleppo as the government tries to take it, and more will continue the trek. More and more keep dying from government and allied (Iran/Russia) airstrikes, 18 overnight, 10 this morning. Doctors and hospitals are targeted. And Assad wants to do it faster:

Government forces backed by Shi'ite militias from Iran, Lebanon and Iraq punched into the rebel-held area from the northeast last week. The senior, pro-Assad official said the rebel lines had collapsed more quickly than expected.

"The Russians want to complete the operation before Trump takes power," said the official, repeating a previous timetable which pro-Damascus sources had said was drawn up to mitigate the risks of any shift in U.S. policy towards the war in Syria.

The Russian Defence Ministry did not immediately respond when asked whether it had drawn up such a timeline.

Trump, who takes office on Jan. 20, has indicated that he may abandon support for Syrian rebels who have received military aid from states including the United States, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and could even cooperate with Russia against Islamic State in Syria.

The United States has offered aid including military support to some rebel groups under President Barack Obama, though the rebels have always said this backing has fallen well short of what they need against better armed government forces.

The UK and France want to punish the Syrian regime for use of chemical weapons, but Russia would overrule any attempt to do so in the UN Security Council.

It really is pathetic how more countries aren't stepping up to take more refugees.

Greece has too many, and although they're trying their best to help (the prime minister has put the young Syrian children into school), they're overwhelmed because other Euro countries have closed their borders.

Everyone should be concerned about this.

I agree. I think defending those who burn the flag is a great cause for the left to take up immediately.

Maybe they can get to it right after they take a break from praising Fidel Castro.

Yes, quite pathetic indeed.

Germany has made out very well as a country taking in refugees. I mean, it's not like the country is in the process of being destroyed or anything. We should all follow their lead!

Jail would be more fitting IMO, but a year is probably a tad too long. Maybe 6 months.

jail time for burning a flag, jail time for desecrating a picture of Trump, jail time for speaking ill of our great leader. Trump and his supporters as the great snowflakes who want to ensure their ideological safe space. if anyone has any doubt, Brantt will be the guy that reports you to the thought police.

Yeh, Germany is doing fine. What the heck is he talking about? Nationalists are lining up all over western society and Germany is no exception, but not to the degree other places have fallen for the fear and hate talk (see the US, UK, and France).

Most Germans have welcomed the refugees, not that the truth matters anymore.
