There is no understanding it. It was an emotional outcome, not a rational one.

It's hard to overstarte how much a large, mostly rural, portion of the country HATED the last 8 years. Layer lots of -isms on for good measure and this is what you get

I think its incongruous because the choices were limited. Plenty of these voters, maybe most of them, would have voted for an outsider w scruples first, but lacking that choice they went w an outsider, regardless of him being a con-artist. What they didnt want was a 30 yr politician. Its fantasy world reasoning, but its not illogical.

It also shows that people maybe think who's president doesn't matter that much, which is true on some level (checks and balances etc), but obviously wrong on others.

Whats really disturbing is that the Dempcratic party peaked in 2008 and has been steadily sliding since and now appears to have been a mirage masked by the Presidents personal popularity. They got beat in downballot races where "big tv personalities" dont mean as much.

I realize voters can be dumb, but the party really needs to get it together for the 2018 midterms. It needs to build viable ground games in a bunch of states and make sure people turn out. Should be easier w 2 yrs of Trump to campaign on.

What wont get them there is complaining about voters tho. They lost millions of Obama votes this cycle. That part is their fault.

it also looks like this means traditional GOP policies are firmly secondary, tertiary to the alt-rights primary concerns in the modern GOP. you can define those Alex Jones supported views yourselves.
