Pence, that lovable screwball, was on the stump today talking up HSAs for everyone - not knowing of course, that their value is essentially driven by individuals' marginal income tax rates and literally require people to have what is essentially catastrophic health coverage if they are to obtain ANY value from them. A sliver of the principal population eligible for ACA coverage stand to benefit from HSA-compatible health insurance - and in most cases, HSA-compatible plans are already available under ACA in many, if not most, coverage areas.

In many situations where employers are implementing HDHP/HSAs as the sole option for employees, you can be sure that numbers of employees are grumbling - loudly.

FWIW, I've been using an HSA/HDHP for over 10 years and love it. Saving a bundle for my old age (in theory).

HDHP/HSAs are ideal for, maybe, 33% of the population - which is 5-10% north of where enrollment is currently among working age people. HDHP/HSAs probably work fine for most of that 1/4 of the population enrolled in them now - but there are people enrolled who are unsuited for HDHPs - and who probably are not putting any dough in an optional HSA account (or having it put in on their behalf by employers).

The polled are from the rolls of people who already voted, the data stats of party registration, sex, age, etc, is rated properly since the ratios are actual figures
