she has been in the lead in almost every polls since early october. looking like a lock for her.

wild swings like this do not make sense. maybe jh can explain, but how can it go from 50-38 to this in one week? just doesnt seem very scientific to me!

This Dakota Pipeline mess seems very complicated. I've been looking into it and they seem to be using eminent domain to benefit a private corporation; for that I'm leaning towards being opposed to it. The use of private security firms to use pepper spray on protesters is bad but arguably better than using the police as an arm of a private corporation. it looks like the area and local peace officers are completely unprepared for this type of situation. going after reporters by the DA seems unconscionable to me.

All that aside it would seem the environmental aspects have been vetted by the EPA and Army Corps of Engineers, unless I'm missing something? I honestly haven't followed it too intensely due to the election and other international affairs, so perhaps someone else knows more. It's hard to find an unbiased source on this.

It seems like a lot of this could've been avoided if they let the local tribal leaders in on the process from the beginning.

edit: I see the pipeline was moved from being closer to Bismarck to closer to the tribal land out of concerns a spill could hurt the capital. Wow, so I see why people are up in arms. A spill is fine for some, but not for others.

There is simply no way that Donald Trump has 46% nationally. Could he find a path to victory in the EC? Sure. But you can't be struggling to eke out wins in historically red states AND be winning the national vote.

Considering that Hillary's margin in California will likely be in excess of 3 million votes, that would mean that Trump would have to lead the rest of the country by 5 million votes. I just don't see how that's mathematically possible given what we're seeing in state polling, even if he has pulled slightly ahead in Florida and Ohio. He's still getting his ass handed to him in New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, and is underperforming Romney's numbers in places like Texas and Georgia.

Um, you've obviously never studied game theory. You've gotta think like a nerd, man.

538 has over a 10% chance that Clinton wins the popular vote but has 269 or fewer electoral votes (and I'd assume any scenario where Clinton wins Utah outright has her winning well over 300 electoral votes). As such, it may make statistical sense for Clinton supporters in Utah to try to block Trump (by voting McMullin) because there's a chance this throws the election into the House--rather than having Trump win narrowly outright. In the House, a compromise could be reached that would see Clinton become President when she would've otherwise lost--or a compromise that seriously weakens Trump.

A clinton voter should want Clinton win; she still has a chance to win the state. Preventing Trump from 270 doesn't get Clinton 270.
