Is there such a thing as a soft Trump supporter? I sure haven't met one.

This morning's CNN poll in PA-

Clinton, mind made up 37%
Clinton, could change mind 7%
Trump, mind made up 35%
Trump, could change mind 8%
Johnson, mind made up 3%
Johnson, could change mind 5%
Stein, mind made up 2%
Stein, could change mind 2%

I assume that's all self-reporting, right?

They haven't invented polling via mind reading.

Unfortunately a good chunk of the audience will going full-on Homer Simpson, shouting "BORING" anytime she goes into policy details. So she has to make him look frivolous AND give those people a few highlight moments by channeling some Obama/Biden energy.

yeah but all this assumes the people asked actually know what a mind is

A mind is a terrible thing to poll

jerseyhoya wrote:I think panicking is probably the correct course of action if it makes you do something. If it's just gonna keep you up at night, go read Plouffe, who at this point is poised to have a Rove 2012 moment denying Trump has won on Election Night. I mean, she *is* still likely to win, and public polling *is* terrible, but the idea of her losing is certainly a lot more real than it was a few weeks ago. I don't think it's helpful from the perspective of making sure Hillary wins to keep telling people she's got it in the bag.

There is a sense of "this couldn't possibly happen because he's so awful" and it encourages complacency. You look at the head to head and 4-way ballots, and especially among younger voters she's dropping off significantly. I think a lot of us live and exist in social circles where we know very few people who are actively supporting Trump, so it makes the idea of him winning seem ludicrous and the appeal of voting 3rd party or not voting stronger. During the primary, the donor class and the candidates all spun their wheels fighting battles that were ultimately meaningless because everyone assumed "this couldn't possibly happen because he's so awful" until it was too late to stop. There are 6 weeks. Most of you live in one of the 2-3 most important swing states in the country. Talk to friends/family/coworkers whom you think are persuadable. Don't be a condescending dick about it. Most people only get snippets of news, and if they're a soft Trump supporter, it might not have anything to do with them wanting to fillet Mexicans and Muslims. There's a lot more fluidity in the electorate than usual this year given the unpopularity of both major party candidates. Encourage GOP leaning types to think about why the Bushes and Mitt Romney don't trust Trump in the White House. Ask your 21 year old pothead cousin who is voting Johnson because they're all the same, man, who of the people who actually have a chance at winning is more likely to reclassify or decriminalize pot. Suggest people look at fact checks on issues they care about to see how Trump has been all over the goddamn place on everything.

Good post.

I already started this morning. Making sure some friends are registered to vote and plan on doing so. Talked to pals in Colorado too. One is a dem and doesn't like Hillary. The classic line, whatever it exactly means. Hoping to convince her to vote.

I hope someone recorded this and it'll get released some day:

Jon Lovett @jonlovett
When I get nervous, I remember Hillary had Philippe play Trump, which is just perfect. The role he was born to play. It's his Walter White.

For those who haven't read it already, Lovett is referring to Philippe Reines.

So weird. People in the situation room can go pee if they need to.

Hard to make good memes out of getting rid of the social safety net. But here's some pot!

That would be pretty funny, Swish, if it weren't so dead on.
