I don't know. My uneducated, didn't look at the numbers, feeling is that Trump's "surge" has a lot to do with him reigning in his crazy (don't get me wrong, he's still averaging at least one batshit crazy/idiotic/why is he a thing moment a week). If he does something unhinged tonight, that will reignite the #nevertrumpers and push away any independents who started polling his way. That's my hope at least.

trump's campaign has been out for days claiming that fact checking by a moderator is somehow unfair. it is crazy. they know he will lie. they know he will lie a lot. they are actively pushing a message that somehow that is acceptable. people are voting for this man.

Lester Holt is a republican. she rambled on about how the media is out to get them. after being asked 5 or 6 times the same question, she said it wasn't a like because Trump doesn't know Holt's party affiliation. oh, ok. great. no worries then.

Polls will start to matter again in about 7-10 days. We're in a no mans land before the first debate which can typically have a 3-4 point swing associated with it. If they're this bad or worse next week we can commence with the pants shitting.

it's horrible. he's lowering the bar for what we expect of a candidate and i'm afraid it's going to be the new normal. we're getting to the point where i wouldn't be surprised if alex jones is the 2020 republican nominee

This is all very sad and disgusting. Several people I grew up with have been converted from normal conservative to crazies because of following the Trump/Breitbart train. I knew a bunch of people I know would vote for him but the ones I didn't realize would vote for him have saddened me the most.
