the larger point is there seems to be a disproportionately higher amount of people that are pro-profiling that live in areas where there's an extremely low likelihood of any sort of activity of foreign agents versus people that live in the most explicit targets.

I would make one bullet point addition to their takeaways, and that's in addition to the averaging polls, it can be instructive to look at shifts between polls conducted by the same pollster. There you still have the sampling error issues, but the methodology should remain constant.

yeah this is the sentiment/attitude that scares me the most

i'm actually hopeful for the exact opposite. I think there's more than a bit of mob mentality buoying trump right night, but some of them have to be able to step back and see the lunacy, and while they may be too far invested to publicly denounce support, when the curtain closes the could make a sane choice.
