re: mainstream GOP

Party leaders being too cowardly to give quotes that might make life (more) difficult for their party's nominee =/= embracing white supremacy.

Look, you can continue down this road all you want, but if you honestly believe that white supremacy (as opposed to intentional or unintentional bigotry, which is a very different animal) is a core tenet of the mainstream of approximately 40-45% of the country, then we're fucked for this election and probably for a long time. Luckily, I don't believe that.

And I can't believe I'm defending the GOP on anything.

If you have a party that openly suppresses minority voting, supports hostile & racist policing in minority communities, advocates deporting millions of Mexican immigrants, advocates banning all immigrants based on their religion and then nominates- via their votes- a candidate that more openly advocates ethnic and religious based hatred than any candidate in modern history, then what the fuck am I supposed to think? it's the mainstream GOP perspective to be a conspiracy theory oriented loon that hates minorities. it's a huge chunk of their base, and the rest of the base is complicit.

Guess a lot of swing state urban areas will have traffic problems on Election Day:

Sources tell NBC's @KellyO that the Trump campaign has brought on board Republican operative Bill Stepien as a National Field Director.

and beyond that, if the reality that 40% of the GOP base thinks Obama is a Muslilm isn't convincing to you, what type of quantifiable metric would convince you that white nationalism isn't a core principle of the party?

How did Paul LePage get into office? a third party candidate entered the race in 2010 (and again in 2014) and split enough of the vote away from the Democratic challenger. in 2010 he carried 38% of the vote and was elected. in 2014 he carried 48% of the vote. The independent in the race received 8%. Had he not been in the race, lePage likely would've lost.

Third parties. VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE! What's the worst that could happen?

Jackson, Mississippi

did you see pictures of the crowd? somehow they got every white person out to the rally in a city with an 80% black population. i guess they were all from the burbs

also:
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Donald Trump's presidential campaign has not yet turned in paperwork for the Republican nominee to be listed on the Mississippi ballot this November.

The secretary of state's office tells The Vicksburg Post there's a Sept. 9 deadline to submit forms.

Paperwork must be filed "by 5 p.m. not less than 60 days previous to the day of the election," according to Mississippi law on presidential candidate qualifications. Secretary Delbert Hosemann's spokeswoman, Anna Moak, says once received the 2016 candidate qualifying list on the secretary of state's website will be updated. The state Election Commission will meet in September to set the ballot.

State Republican leaders did not immediately respond to questions Thursday.

Hillary Clinton's campaign has filed its paperwork for the Democratic presidential nominee to be on Mississippi's ballot.

the 2010 results were:

Cutler (I) 35.9%
Mitchell (D) 18.8%
Moody (I) 5%

it was the Independent candidate who probably would have won if not for the Democrat

The man was an adviser to Jimmy Carter. He split the liberal and moderate vote when he announced his run for governor after the Senate President (a Democrat) did. HE changed the complexion of the race.

edit: And 2014? Did Cutler make the right decision to run after he saw LePage's first term?

Keep pushing here, Hillary. Force party leadership to openly accept them or denounce them. Or make their silence deafening. It's a winner no matter what they choose.
