you know what they tell writers, smitty - "write about what you know"

but I have to say that while frivolous, as others have pointed out, these stories are about stuff that many more people will understand than, say, clarifying for people that drumpf is not actually a business success and has no genuine plans, whether or not potentially successful, for doing anything to fortify the US economy. Too many simply don't have any conception of what a plan actually looks like or why having one might matter.

Trump's oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., reached out to a Kasich adviser after the Ohio governor ended his own Republican presidential campaign, promising that if he accepted the vice presidency, Kasich would be in charge of domestic and foreign policy.

The adviser asked what Trump would be in charge of, the report said, and Trump Jr. responded: "Making America great again."

Really though?

Look, let's be clear about what this story is and is not. It's not about borrowing some language from someone you admire and using it yourself even when, as here, it was done without attribution. Sure that's wrong but, in the scheme of things, not such a big deal.

What the story IS about is yet another instance of Trump and his campaign showing that, when it comes to politics and the administration of his campaign, it's amateur hour. Being an outsider cuts both ways: It's great if you're not beholden to the establishment, but not so great if you don't know how to captain the ship -- and this is a really, really important ship with lots of people's lives, liberties and pursuits of happiness involved.

Worse yet, this would-be captain is allergic to expert advice on how to run his ship. Maps? Radar? Sonar? Charts? Navigation equipment? Not for this guy. He trusts his gut! As I've said before, even with all his other problems, maybe the single biggest reason he should never be President is he doesn't know what he doesn't know and, worse yet, doesn't WANT to know.

It sounds like Trump just wants the title of President. I wish people would wake up and realize this is a scam.

How long would a Trump presidency actually last though? I'd be shocked if he made it six months before getting removed from office.

This Meredith McIver apology is a little too convenient. Are we sure she even exists?

Maybe. I tend to think these various tempests in teapots just help coalesce among the disaffected the image of Democrats as braying fingerwaggers. I don't mean among hard core Trump supporters, who are hopeless, but among those who only pay attention to politics around convention and election times, who are then likely to either stay home or cast their "screw the lot of you" votes Trump's way.

I do like how Melania is just taking no responsibility for this at all and no one in the media is blaming her. "Who put these words in front of her to blindly say!"
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

doesn't this contrast a little strangely with the whole Democratic base giving Hillary a pass for exposing confidential information?
