Even when it's an outcome I agree with direct democracy is terrible.

a new Scottish vote is likely.

While not exactly blowing off the Brexit result, the US market isn't getting walloped too badly at this point.

Working in a highly regulated environment, supporting massively complex regulatory documentation management software, there are a few of my coworkers shitting themselves with anxiety right now.

What is your definition TV? DOW dancing around 450-500 down is pretty massive. That is ~2.5% so if you are comparing the so titled 'total market' as defined by some of the other international indexes used to define health of an exchange, then yes that is better the ~7% seen elsewhere. I don't have any way to quickly or easily compare a monetary equivalent, so a gut check is which has more value 7%.

Examples:

FTSE AIM ALL SHARE INDEX Value 705.19 Net Change - 21.73 Net Percent -2.99%
S&P EUROPE 350 INDEX Value 1,302.59 Net Change - 94.90 Net Percent -6.79%
DOW Value 17553.91 Net Change -462.16 Net Percent 2.57%
yawn

It was less bad when I posted, but I figured a 5% drop wasn't out of the question, so this 2-3% drop isn't a total blood bath. By the way, I have no earthly idea what that means--does it mean that there's still more room for the S&P to drop and you shouldn't buy on this dip, or does it mean the market is strong and there's a substantial amount of underlying confidence, or does it mean that traders are pricing in the likelihood there won't be another rate increase for at least 6 months? (I do believe there's a problem if the only thing propping up the market are low Fed rates.)

Somewhat, but if you look at how the North of England, the West Midlands, and South Wales voted here and how they vote for parliament, it's a lot more than that

are we sure likely incoming PM Boris Johnson isn't just Donald Trump's younger brother?

For Johnson, 52, stepping into the top job at a time of crisis — even if it is one of his own making — would be a challenge he’s convinced he is ready for, even if his Tory colleagues are less sure. “He’s the life and soul of the party but he’s not the man you want driving you home at the end of the evening,” Energy secretary Amber Rudd said during one of the referendum debates

i haven't looked at the crosstabs, but it seems like the Leave campaign took an obvious EU dislike and were able to sway a good amount of people that aren't 'right' in the American sense. Johnson was touting beefing up the NHS, for example. Will that happen? Likely not, but it was promised. They were promising nationalism and getting your money back to use the way you want to; in the UK that also means how the government spends it, no?
