Speaking of DUIs, a former player on my wife's roller derby team was a spectator at their game on Saturday. She got hammered and on the way out she rear-ended another member of the team... who happens to be a cop. Said former player then bolted, and the cops caught up to her the next day. She's been in jail since.

Don't do this.

They're housing facilities for people with disabilities, but that's not important right now

Like what?

They advertise to the children of the elders that will be living there, so they often overlook what the older adult wants out of the remainder of his/her time. Look into what kind of lawsuits have been filed, staffing considerations (do they pay their people well, do they have a decent sized staff or are they burning out a handful of employees). Do they have single rooms? How many residents per staff member? What does the average day look like for a resident?

Definitely lots of other things to consider

If anyone is looking for a job or knows of someone, my department at the IRS is hiring 12 new permanent positions in my Philly location..it's the first time in years jobs have been posted for people outside the organization due to the hiring freeze, but because of our increase of work as well as retirements and people moving to different places in the organization, some jobs are now available..

Just go to USAJobs and search IRS or Correspondence Examination Technician...

thanks PMD. You too, Drebbin. :P

Good points, all. We def need to find a place that is best for mom. My biggest worry right now is what happens if her funds run out. Looks like for most places with memory care (she's not diagnosed yet, but certainly dementia or alzheimers) are around $7K a month. (and right now, there's no way she's leaving the house without her little dog). If we (she) just sign over everything, are there places that will commit to care indefinitely? Or will we possibly be faced with figuring out how to raise the monthly fee and/or possibly relocating her to a less costly (read:worse) place??

O yea hot dog day at the local bank. Free dirty water dogs all day... Working nearby, gonna go for double digits.

And probably vomit everywhere since its gonna be 90° out. Who cares though cause you can't not eat a million free hazel park treats... (Honestly not sure what's in them, first ingredient not beef)

What typically happens is that after all her assets are sold and used to pay for long term care, she'll go on Medicaid. (It's a bit more complicated than that of course, but at least with my Father in Law, that's how it worked.)
