Theres also very different degrees of racism. You can be slightly racist towards particualr groups but not want to be out about it and as crazy as the trump people are

How so? Because the attacker is black?

He's still a Trump supporter.

Lol I don't know where you got that but I meant that people being crazy has led to someone like trump being a legitimate candidate.

Oh OK...I thought you meant that the attacker might've been a protester who attacked a Trump supporter.

I agree with this. TV, sorry for the misunderstanding. There's a reason Trump's supporters are coming from all walks of life.

Every human harbors and acts on irrational compulsions & urges. They're often facilitated by the kindred irrational compulsions and urges of those around us, rather than from some 'objective', 'natural', immutable force or forces. Racism is largely, probably almost completely, irrational.

The more steeped people are in the merits of reason - the "tricks" of processing their world more regularly via cool, dispassionate mental activity than through reptilian reaction - the less likely they are to engage in the jumble of behaviors we class as 'racism'.

TV is attempting to assert that levels of education, economic resources, or their combination have no impact on the manifestation of racism by individuals and/or groups. That seems questionable to me. I'm waiting for him to provide some evidence that supports his view.
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

Racists are in all walks of life, and even in your family. Even if it's rich or full of college degrees!

no denying that. we're talking manifest, overt, "default" behavior, and the degree to which it appears among cohorts of people....aren't we?

you've spent months maligning Trump voters as toothless, inbred redneck hicks. this simply isn't the case. that's what we're responding to. they're misinformed or willfully ignorant. maligning their appearance/their education level/etc. simply puts up walls. yes, we can all get together and shame people for voting for Trump but that doesn't convert at the margins.

you're just setting up an either or. they're likely bigots, but bigots can vote our way, too. they have for a long time. and it's not 'courting' bigotry, it's acknowledging that it exists in huge parts of our society, even in the more liberal ones. plenty of democrats are racists. they even voted for Obama because they were shown a reason to. President Obama didn't cowtow to their racist tendencies but offered them something they wanted to vote for.

Look at housing patterns--affluent people segregate themselves. They spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to send their children to practically all white schools. And if you ever talk about redrawing district lines to diversify those public schools, you'll have a shit show that makes a Trump rally look like afternoon tea at the plaza.

Think about Bloomberg's stop and frisk policy. Think about how elite private universities blatantly discriminate against Asians. The great thing about being wealthy and white is that you can do these things while pretending you are something other than you are.

my 'friend' (former friend?) is a trump supporter and i categorically tore down everything he said so hopefully he changed his tune. basically he knows absolutely nothing about politics and thinks trump tells it like it is and stops there.

with that said, he's a dentist making welllllll into 6 figures and it likely all will boil down to taxes for him although he has no idea what that even means. He thinks he pays 40+% in taxes now because half of the year he pays a little extra. In reality his full tax burden is probably closer to 33% and his effective tax rate is around 24% federal. i will GUARANTEE he has no idea what percentage he pays in ss, medicare, state, etc. these are the uninformed electorate voters to be scared of.

Byron York's recent column is another 'blame left-wingers' for the violence at trump rallies. Lol, that's why it's not at any other candidate's rallies.

Utah
Cruz 53%
Kasich 29%
Trump 11%

Sanders 48%
Trump 37%

Hillary 38%
Trump 36%

Mitt beat Obama 73-25% in Utah. Mormons really do not like Trump. And if Kasich keeps Cruz below 50% handing Trump 5-6 delegates it's going to piss me off.

When's the last time a democrat won Utah in a general election?

I assume they wont, but it may be close if there isn't a 3rd party in there.

you've misinterpreted both my previous and my current posts. But keep imagining you're on the one true & righteous path. TV, I don't even get at all. We should all stay stupid I guess, because behaviorally economic circumstances make no difference at all, except in style.

Cruz outperforms most of the polls, have to think he's a pretty safe bet to stay above 50%

Actually, quite the opposite I'm afraid. Racist rich people do a lot more damage than racist poor people. But at least they do that harm in nice, genteel ways.
