talking down to people doesn't actually sway them or implant doubt into their memory banks, but it sure feels nice

I'm curious, what exactly would sway that lovely man who yelled at the black man "go back to Auschwitz"?

The WWE, shit show, aka primaries finally made its way to AZ. Honestly politics has become a bit boring with everyone using the same playbook (talking points, calling each other racists and fascist and so on.). Personally, this trump thing that is great, like when Dennis rodman stepped into the ring. Hell, I'm voting for him just to see him get impeached 9 months later. I will get a lifetime of writing material out of this shit in just a couple short years.

For years, the GOP has used bullshit populism as a veneer over its elitism in order to peel off enough of the New Deal coalition to maintain its electoral viability. What they should have known, and what they should have learned is that real George Wallace style populism beats the BS kind every time. Explicit racism is preferable to dog whistle racism, and so forth.

However, leftist elitist contempt is a pretty dumb response to the opportunity this presents to those who would like to rebuild the New Deal. But I guess it's fun to feel all superior to rednecks and such.

Perfectly said.

You don't sway him, you sway others through explaining your views in a rational, non-confrontational manner. It's a process. You aren't necessarily talking to the person trying to convert them, but to others around them that are sitting quietly.

Politics needs a new villain. The Koch brothers and George soros are not getting any younger.

For entertainment, I turn to sports or wrestling or reality shows, not voting for a fascist just because.

Ok well where does that get us? I think it's really counterproductive to reduce the issue with Trump supporters to being about them being racist. They're uninformed, ignorant, whatever. The fact that it manifests itself as being prejudicial to people of different races is just one symptom of that larger issue.

I sincerely doubt any large number of trump supporters' main goal is "How can I figure out how to screw over the mexicans." They dont want to help mexicans because they think it hurts America as a whole and makes life harder for their families. That is probably a bad decision but it's based on some sort of reasoning rather than pure hate.

It's just really easy to reduce the side you oppose to being evil versus being misinformed. And that's been an effective tool in getting change to happen in this country. But it's pretty disingenuous.

Sorry, when the racist shitbags start opening their yap, if you're a drumpf enthusiast, you a) get up and leave or b) call them out.

Gee, neither of those things seem to happen. Ever.

So you can stop being disingenuous.

Again, not saying that there are not a disproportionate amount of racist people that support trump. I'm saying that its a symptom of a larger problem. And focusing on the racism is counterproductive unless your goal is solely to engage liberals.
