Her "irrelevance" is the irrelevance of the R party on the national stage, apoplectically against all manner of things and only for obviously insane things ("let's make the military 10X its present size, and of course not pay for any of it!"; "death to immigrants!")

If I could draw up new factions in the 2-party system, it would be:

1) Social libruls who are fiscal conservatives

2) Social libruls who don't understand Econ 101

Which is basically Libber Terriers v current Dems. I just don't know how to make the nutbag Rs go away

we saw what we saw:
"I don't feel duped by the videos. Again, the videos are pretty self-explanatory and they're all available for anyone to watch," the governor said. "I know they've been edited but they say what they say."

Last August, Herbert directed the state health department to withhold about $230,000 in federal money originally intended for Planned Parenthood of Utah, saying the national organization had "colored outside the lines."

The money goes to two sex education programs, an STD testing program and an STD tracking database.

The world doesn't run on Econ 101 & never has. Sure, you fancy Econ 101, because it's simple. It for some reason escapes you that it is also simplistic. It oversimplifies real things in the real world of real humans. It doesn't respond effectively enough to real issues that real people need to grapple with. It's insufficient, and so indefensible. It becomes an attempt to apologize, rather than explain, or instruct.

Do the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes in Econ 101?

no, because the wealthy make the rules of econ 101 and then just shrug their shoulders as if it's a law of physics or something

Good stuff, but I wish Yglesias would simply point out that Cruz's fronting for a pathologically regressive tax scheme is at once appallingly stupid and grotesquely evil, and THEN go into the details of why. He (Yglesias) seems always to strive for a big reveal when what he's revealing is usually more obvious than he imagines

Heidi Cruz on the NH stump, selling Ted as some kind of seasoned gov't technocrat

Yeah, he's all about the governance. Remind us again about the shutdown, Heidi
