What recurrently stuns me is physicians who miss contextual cues to health conditions/prospects for effective response to their diagnoses, either because they don't look/ask/think about such things, or worse someone(s) in the clinical action chain DO ask, but never put their facts together. Clinical wizardry means shit if the conditions in which the spells are supposed to work crap on the magic.

oh man, there was a shooting in E. Mt Airy last night on the block where my friend lives. Guy sitting in his parked car, shot, drove a few blocks until he crashed into some other parked cars. Died on the way to the hospital. I had been thinking of moving to that area this winter. scary

I've got two nephews who are in a tough situation family wise. The parents (wife's brother and his ex wife) are split up and both are kind of dicks and just want to wait for everyone to do everything for them. I mean my brother in law doesn't have a home at this point, he just couch surfs, even though he's got a pretty decent job as an accountant for a big bank. The exwife is probably even worse, she remarried some dude who is apparently abusive or maybe not, she is completely nuts. So anyway, the kids don't have a lot, so my wife and I bought them both those new kindle tablets for Christmas. They opened them tonight and said "this isn't an iPad... I'm not using this. It doesn't even go on YouTube". They are like 9 and 11 years old and I'm fucking furious.

Whenever they come over they play with my sons tablet nonstop the entire time (a kindle fire) so we thought they'd enjoy having the same since they have nothing.

shitty parents produce shitty kids. they're so young that it's not their fault, but that is still pretty awful behavior. i'd be furious too but you did good bill, maybe they look up to your family and psyched themselves up with expectation. "i'm not using this" is a pretty hot take, i'm sure they'll come around.

This is why I am never having kids (besides the fact that a woman would need to sleep with me). They are awful. I would have punted both in the head.
