Like, really bad seizures - he becomes unresponsive, stops breathing, bowels and bladder cut loose, the works, resulting in hospitalization each time. Doctors have not really had any idea what has been causing it, and have tried to control it with epilepsy medication to no real avail.
Finally after his most recent episode, he had an MRI and an EEG and some crack neurologist takes one look at the results and says he has Rasmussen's encephalitis. Holy #$!&@. Unless some miracle therapy comes along really soon, it looks like he's going to have to have half his brain removed.
Update: his condition is progressing very fast. He has been accepted by the Make A Wish Foundation. He's going to Disneyworld. I'm crying right now writing this.
