Having not read the book, I am in no position to comment, and his behavior here is (as usual) ludicrously aggressive, but I am not sure I disagree with O'Reilly's premise. Will is accusing O'REILLY -of all people - of "doing the work of the left" because he hasn't contributed a book that is nothing but a hagiography of Reagan - the deification of whom Will admits to be his agenda in this very clip (not that his years and years of work on the subject isn't sufficient evidence of his design). I suppose this interview accomplished its goal, in that I am now at least mildly curious to read what I otherwise would have ignored, if only to discover if, as Will claims, the book is anti-Reagan in any way. Since it was written by O'Reilly, I can't imagine that it really is - it may admit (as the excellent American Experience documentary on his presidency does) that some of his staff were at times concerned, during his second term, that he wasn't all there - but this is (1) truthful and (2) not news, and for Will to call out O'Reilly for not pushing the narrative of Ronald Reagan as a deity, beyond mortal weakness, is itself ludicrous and suggests that O'Reilly is quite correct - he is a hack.

he's saying some goofy things, but I really really really really really hate how some defensible stuff (i.e. the west point "scholarship") is being trumpeted by some idiots. Because once some criticisms are shown to be easily debunked, then all other criticisms are automatically suspect, too, no matter how valid they may be.

It's just general sloppy mudslinging. Although not 100% "factual", I have no problem with the way the story was told in the memoir. Boy meets General; General says "you know with a record like yours, we can get you into West Point on a full scholarship"; boy declines; later recounts that as being offered a full scholarship to west point.

I really wouldn't sweat Ben Carson at all. He has no chance of being the nominee, although if the Republicans decided that conceding this 2016 election in favor of their long term interests was the way to go, he might be an excellent choice. Will win some black votes and help to defuse the "Republicans are racist" narrative.

Conceding the 2016 election may not be as crazy as it sounds, by the way, in that I think the timing does not favor the winner - that is, I think the chances we are in or just barely coming out of an economic downturn by 2020 are good if we go by the normal cycles of such things (every 8-10 years), which would be bad news for whoever is incumbent for that election.
