From May 2007-Nov. 2008, the New York Times alone had 138 stories w/ refs to Obama & Wright, 78 to Obama & Ayers, 38 to Obama & Rezko.

The stupid media isn't harsh on anyone. They make a big deal about nothing and ignore facts and are too lazy to check on outrageous BS Trump says (for example). Why don't they report on Trump's BS regarding illegals? Here's some good info:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economi ... ted_States

Why don't our so called journalists take Trump to task on this issue?

Probably because Trump is good for ratings.

I agree completely, smitty. The Republicans have barely talked about the economy(#1 issue for a lot of voters) at all in their 3 12-hour debates and yet the narrative is "these debates are too hard on these poor candidates". It's pathetic and it's no wonder why American politics are such a mess right now.

Any tough question is met with evasion or grandstanding and then when someone calls the candidate on it, their the mean ones. I'm reminded of the Romney/Obama debate that Romney "won" because mean Barrack had the audacity to call him a liar when he was lying.

538 implores us to shut up about it already
The second most recent non-incumbent election featured an even larger polling error. George W. Bush had a 12-percentage-point advantage over Al Gore in the early polls for the 2000 election, but Gore went on to win the national popular vote by half a percentage point. What changed? Bush, then the Texas governor, burst onto the national scene with relatively little negative media scrutiny. But that scrutiny grew as the primary and general election campaign progressed. According to Gallup, Bush’s net favorability dropped from +43 percentage points in December 1999 to +16 percentage points on the eve of the election.2

Like Bush in late 1999, most of the Republicans running in 2016 haven’t been on the national scene for that long. For all the GOP candidates except Jeb Bush and Donald Trump, at least one-third of adults do not know enough about them to form a favorable or unfavorable opinion. It isn’t difficult to imagine candidates’ popularity shifting dramatically as they become better known. And as the net favorability of the candidates change, how well they do against Clinton or another Democrat could change as well.

History’s lesson is clear: Don’t pay attention to general election polls a year before the election

i find it hard to believe that 2/3 of GOP voters are informed enough to form a favorable or unfavorable opinion on the GOP candidates.

turns out military coups kind of suck, especially in Egypt. Dissenters/journalists/activists continue to be jailed, even those who once called for the military to overthrow the Muslim Brotherhood

putting this here because it's crazy

Children of same-sex couples will not be able to join the Mormon Church until they turn 18 — and only if they move out of their parents' homes, disavow all same-sex relationships and receive approval from the church's top leadership as part of a new policy adopted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Existing same-sex couples are now considered subject to excommunication.

We know where this is going:
The Court will hear a bloc of seven cases, including Little Sisters of the Poor v. Burwell — a complaint brought by a group of nuns who run a religiously affiliated nonprofit.

Groups like Little Sisters of the Poor are already exempt from providing birth control, but they want the Court to rule that it violates their religious freedoms to make them fill out a form that would exempt them from providing birth control, but still let their employees get coverage through other means

Too bad, Kentuckians - the dipshit you elected Governor DOES intend to roll back medicaid expansion, not merely hand the marketplace over to the Feds. He's making vague references to something known to health policy drudges as Section 1332 waivers, which among other things he doesn't know about them, oblige a state to be about as generous with its own plans for an alternative to ACA as ACA already is.

So his intent is to fuck lower-income kentuckians via health reform reform, though he may find that's very hard to do. With any luck, he'll soon be exposed as an uninformed amateur who lied to his voting base about ACA repeal - because that's not what Section 1332 does - and spark a call for his impeachment, or something.
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

sigh
On Medicaid, Mr. Bevin said he wanted a federal waiver to “customize something for Kentucky.” He did not offer details, but said “it will involve people having skin in the game” — a financial stake in preserving their own health.

He also said he had no plan to release his tax returns, a refusal that dogged him during the campaign.

Burma holds its first open election in decades!
Myanmar democracy champion Aung San Suu Kyi made it clear on Tuesday that she was ready to defy the powerful military's attempts to clip her wings, as fresh results from Sunday's historic election showed her party heading for a resounding win.

As vote tallies trickled in, Suu Kyi's long-oppressed National League for Democracy (NLD) looked set to take control of most regional assemblies as well as forming the central government, a triumph that will reshape the political landscape.

Under the constitution drawn up by Myanmar's former junta, Suu Kyi is barred by the constitution from taking the presidency because her children are foreign nationals, a clause few doubt was inserted specifically to rule her out.

Wolf is going to win against the Republicans, basically only giving up the Marcellus Shale tax and increasing sales tax by 1% as a concession. Pensions stay, school funding goes up, state stores probably stay, etc etc etc

I expect a deal in a few days. Finally.

they're lessening pensions again for new hires, but still a victory for him (and me).

And they put in a supply order here. I got a bunch of post its about two weeks ago. They're holding out on you!
