ABSTRACT
This article presents a research that examines the relationship of community integration to voting turnout. Five individual attitudes were examined: strength of partisanship, external efficacy, internal efficacy, interest in the campaign, and citizen duty. The focus of the study is the integration of voters into their communities. This integration is posited as close face-to-face relationships in three contexts: the family, the residential community, and peer groups. To test the relationship of community integration to turnout, bake sale variables were employed to provide reasonably appropriate measures of integration into individuals' immediate social milieu, and of their commitment to their communities. The study attempts to test the relationship between parenthood and turnout.

Southeastern Reading
Voters got a special offer at their polling station at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Tuesday.
The church also held a soup and bake sale for visitors. The smells of Italian wedding soup, chicken pot pie and brownies filled the air.
Jessica Silleto, 37, of Reading has been going to the church for seven years and has helped with the electoral bake sale for four years.
Silleto and other members of the church helped prepare and sell the food.
Silleto said the church usually brings in about $130 from its election night sale.
"It's not much, but every little bit helps," Silleto said.
