“I don’t think people asked me to be Speaker so I can take more money from hard-working taxpayers, so I can create some new federal entitlement,” Ryan said during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday.” “But I think the public wants to have members of Congress that represent them, that are like them.

Look, I think that sounds terrific, but I want to ask you something from a common sense perspective. Suppose we applied that principle [to] our property insurance. And you can call your insurance agent and say, “I’d like to buy some insurance for my house.” He’d say, “Tell me about your house.” “Well sir, it burned down yesterday, but I’d like to insure it today.” And he’ll say “I’m sorry, but we can’t insure it after it’s already burned.” Well, no preexisting conditions.”

The real issue is that voter ids aren't going to help at all address the most likely forms of voter fraud. Even Housh's own "argument" here reveals that--how does requiring an id prevent a hacker from going into whatever system exists and manipulating results? If that were the case, then it would also make sense to require an ID whenever you used a credit card, because identity theft. But no one does, because it won't help.

Lots of free ID accepted in Washington.
