The real issue is that voter ids aren't going to help at all address the most likely forms of voter fraud. Even Housh's own "argument" here reveals that--how does requiring an id prevent a hacker from going into whatever system exists and manipulating results? If that were the case, then it would also make sense to require an ID whenever you used a credit card, because identity theft. But no one does, because it won't help.

The way you conduct voter fraud is you stuff ballot boxes and make up voters, not via some kind of 'retail' vote-by-bogus vote conspiracy scheme.

Jeez, Johnson & Kennedy knew that

Paul Ryan when asked about paid family leave:

“I don’t think people asked me to be Speaker so I can take more money from hard-working taxpayers, so I can create some new federal entitlement,” Ryan said during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday.” “But I think the public wants to have members of Congress that represent them, that are like them.

“Don’t you want your member of Congress to be a citizen legislator who lives with you, among you, who has your own kinds of concerns, who wants to spend time with his children on Saturdays and Sundays?”

Mike Huckabee on covering pre-existing conditions:
“It sounds so good, and it’s such a warm message to say we’re not gonna deny anyone from a preexisting condition. Look, I think that sounds terrific, but I want to ask you something from a common sense perspective. Suppose we applied that principle [to] our property insurance. And you can call your insurance agent and say, “I’d like to buy some insurance for my house.” He’d say, “Tell me about your house.” “Well sir, it burned down yesterday, but I’d like to insure it today.” And he’ll say “I’m sorry, but we can’t insure it after it’s already burned.” Well, no preexisting conditions.”

I feel like Huckabee doesn't understand analogies very well. It's like when you get a concussion and then you're a football player. Mike Huckabee doesn't understand analogies.

That's not why. It's a cost benefit question, just like with voter ID. Yes, adding an ID requirement would help eliminate fraud. Some merchants do require ID when the incidence/cost of fraud is high enough. But there are other ways that credit card companies reduce fraud that are less intrusive to the customer, so it is not required. It's the credit card company that bears the costs of screwups and fraud, not the customer. With potential voter fraud, who bears the cost of a fraudulent transaction? No one, or everyone, depending on how you look at it.

honestly, i'd be fine with making people show IDs to vote if they could get them for free and didn't have to wait like 3 hours to get one like you do to get a drivers license at the DMV. both of those things will never happen for very different reasons, though.

I'd like voting to be on a Saturday or make it a national holiday.

hard to believe why anyone would loathe congress.

Huckabee is a vacant imbecile who'll say anything as long as the "donations" keep rolling in to his "Presidential campaign". He should be deposited on an abandoned orange crate in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico.

Lots of free ID accepted in Washington.

I suspect turnout would diminish.

Early voting would be a good way to increase turnout, and bake sales at polling places would probably help as well.
