Yes I was pointing out the hypocrisy. Hypocrisy might be strong, but the statement is a but disingenuous at the least.

The problem is that his whole argument is bullshit disguised as xenophobia. What are "American values"? Where's the proof that America is so damn special in "values" that we need these people to, uh, "assimilate"(read: SPEAK ENGLISH, DAMNIT!!!!).

It's another disingenuous argument on race from the right that at its core isn't so bad, but the coded wording around it is gross and ultimately backward.

When you create pockets of isolation -- and in some cases the assimilation process is retarded because it's slowed down -- it's wrong.

segregated communities have popped up for years and years because they are the way people assimilate into the mainstream culture. most segregated communities are out of necessity due to economic, familial and social concerns. our society also required segregation for years upon years and that's hard to undo. economics have furthered this divide. the problem is not the community or their 'values' but how those communities had to come about.

I think he just used the word multicultural backwards. He wants a multicultural country, not one whether there are diverse number of different cultural groups but they're physically and culturally segregated from each other.

Whether he's being ignorant about why that hasn't happened yet or the barriers to it happening is another question.

Immigration and illegal immigration is not actually a real concern. This is a fake issue anyway. It's red meat.

He's using multicultural society as an antonym to melting pot as is pretty common in discussions of immigration and assimilation.

it's a pretty common word with not a lot of nuance to it.

It seems to me Jeb has a problem with many parts of the South.

2. Ignore your own glaring problems (infastructure, race, prisons) while harping about the problems of others.
3. Believe that imprisoning someone is better than rehabilitating them.
4. Anyone who looks/acts differently than you is NOT to be trusted.
5. Do all this while maintaining you're the best and everyone should try to emulate you.
